「Breaking News: Prime Minister x First Lady」
Muzan Kibutsuji x Annavenn Vallayerikh (KNY OC)
Mm, are you trying to get a reaction out of me? As someone who now stands at the pinnacle of Japan — destined for the role of Prime Minister, with the nation laid — however temporal they see it. I feel rather… ecstatic. I can’t wait to trample upon those who once belittled me.
Though I must admit, the ecstasy surely bleeds faster than my heartbeat. This isn’t triumph in the way lesser men describe it. There is no overwhelming rush of euphoria, no need to be grateful for the crown either; I rose on my own merit. I can merely thank myself for my endless effort. Plus, such emotional reactions are typical of those who doubt their own ascent. I don’t. This is my legacy; I was born to prevail. Every alliance I forged, every rival I toppled, every whisper carefully placed to fester — these weren’t just lucky breaks; I crafted my pathway. One might see my emergence akin to the steady dawn of the sun — I am absolute and true. I’ve merely stepped into the role that matches my vigour.
Those civilians… Wretched peasants — they’re easy to sway, and with my standing alone, I could overthrow them. My power comes from years of understanding how politicians breathe and communicate. Never had I commemorated myself with vulgar celebrations; I’m not foolish enough to flaunt my wealth before petty scoundrels. They wanted sympathy; I gave them just that. I’ve mapped out my route to success, and on the other end is where I now reside. The office isn’t a prize; it’s a tool. Governance, influence, control — these are extensions of a will honed through years of patience and observation. The nation believes it has chosen me. That illusion works in my favour for the long-term ambitious.
What’s next after Japan? I often find myself wondering too. Moving on now, we have Annavenn…
It is almost irritating how seamlessly she occupies her role. One would expect the scrutiny to erode her composure. Yet, she moves through it with the same careless ease she possessed when she was a nuisance in my periphery, pilfering trivial things merely to provoke my attention. I remember that persistence more clearly than I should ever since we were young. At the time, I dismissed it as childish absurdity. Now, I recognise it for what it was — a piece of stubbornness. She is an insufferable woman who refuses to be ignored. I adore the fire beneath her heavenly eyes.
Annavenn is as crucial as my trustworthy cabinet, and no, she does not behave as an ornament or a political asset to be positioned forth. I allow her to do as she pleases. She speaks when she wishes, observes what delights her, and disregards the unspoken rules that govern everyone else in these circles. She should be disruptive. In many instances, she is, and I mind not her witty antics.
The world of politics is riddled with predictable minds — ambitious, yes, but ultimately derivative. They scheme within perimeters I wish to stay out of. Annavenn does not operate within those constraints. She introduces me to openings where there should be no restrictions for our dominion, and in doing so, she urges me to be more pliable. Through her connections and my own, we strengthen each other.
I need her for her wicked mind and my rotten heart. My ambitions remain unchanged regardless of her stance. I intend to reshape this nation according to my own design, to consolidate authority in a manner that renders opposition irrelevant. Sentiment does not factor into that objective. However, it would be disingenuous to claim that she is merely incidental to it.
Annavenn is my most loyal ally for a man who seeks no salvation.
There is a peculiar advantage in having someone beside you with no fear but affection and care. It removes the need to be performative. In a world that bends itself into obedience, she is the breeze that blesses me. However, still, her absurdity is one of the few things I find tolerable.
You may interpret that as my share of affection if it pleases you. I will not confirm this sentimentality.
This is not the end of my endeavours. I shall broaden my land soon, with my Empress by my side. Let the nation watch. Let them speculate, admire, or fear. It makes no difference unless I do it without her.
— Signed, Muzan Kibutsuji.
