watching early results of the primary is very interesting

just listening to petal (the song) on repeat and it genuinely just hit me w a wave a sadness for ariana like damn. i'm not a huge "stan" of her or her music, but i've always felt a lot emotionally about her idk why. and just seeing all she's been doing and dealing with the last few years (the good and the bad) just make me feel so sad for her. and this last album you can really just see all her mental anguish and rapid spiral down within the music. it's just such an eerie situation to listen through the whole album with the knowledge of how she's not doing well at all. and petal just strikes you with it. like idk i just got really sad

been thinking on petal conceptually and how it cracks open ari's psyche lately and how much she seems to refuse taking a break creatively. like i feel both the lead and title track are both the best songs on that chaotic album bc they pretty concisely show what seems to be eating away at ariana, her fame and her fans/the public. but at the same time she'd rather work herself to death and continuously get hammered by the public, like a cycle for her almost. this can be said for like almost all the pop girlies at this point, but ariana in particular has a very unhealthy connection with her body and her relationship wounds are undeniable throughout the album it's sinister how badly she seems to crave a father figure savior esque man. miserable miserable she must be.

i will say there was an older man working the polls who annoyed me bc after i got my id checked i walked a few feet to get my ballot and they usually give a spiel about how partisan primaries work but this man either thought i was a first time voter bc im young or just felt like being annoying bc as he gave his little spiel he snapped at me to "look at the ballot not at me" while i was just trying to listen to him politely. like why do i need to glance down at the ballot. i understand what you're telling me and know how to vote in a partisan election thanks! i tried brushing it off as a joke and was like ah well you know, active listening requires eye contact :) and he did not laugh :(
