Another cough tore through your lungs, searing your throat as you sputtered into the microphone. Your muscles were sore from the convulsions such coughing caused, and all you wanted to do was rest. Exhaustion from your sickness, alongside the lack of sleep it was causing, permeated every cell of your body. Your hands were heavy at your sides as your feet dragged. Moving was a struggle- congestion and nausea clouding you in a fog of dreariness. It wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t entering your third week of a terrible cold, and if your boyfriend was able to crawl in bed alongside you and keep the sickness away with his loving embrace.
