✨⭐Book Tour GIVEAWAY✨⭐
Do you read Historical Fiction? Do you like World War ll novels? I'm excited to FINALLY read the eagerly awaited English translation of author Zhang Ling’s epic WW2 novel A Single Swallow. The premise of the book reminds me of The Five People You Meet In Heaven which is one of my all time favourite books so there's no way I could pass up reading A Single Swallow. The story is about three very different men (now ghosts) and the woman they loved. How interesting is that?!!
Here's more about the book:
On the day of the historic 1945 Jewel Voice Broadcast—in which Emperor Hirohito announced Japan’s surrender to the Allied forces, bringing an end to World War II—three men, flush with jubilation, made a pact. After their deaths, each year on the anniversary of the broadcast, their souls would return to the Chinese village of their younger days. It’s where they had fought—and survived—a war that shook the world and changed their own lives in unimaginable ways. Now, seventy years later, the pledge is being fulfilled by American missionary Pastor Billy, brash gunner’s mate Ian Ferguson, and local soldier Liu Zhaohu.
All that’s missing is Ah Yan—also known as Swallow—the girl each man loved, each in his own profound way.
As they unravel their personal stories of the war, and of the woman who touched them so deeply during that unforgiving time, the story of Ah Yan’s life begins to take shape, woven into view by their memories. A woman who had suffered unspeakable atrocities, and yet found the grace and dignity to survive, she’d been the one to bring them together. And it is her spark of humanity, still burning brightly, that gives these ghosts of the past the courage to look back on everything they endured and remember the woman they lost.

A little moment of calm in what is starting to look like a busy week. How are you with a demanding work week? Do you just power through until the weekend? Or do you carve out moments for yourself in the middle of it all? I've been up since 5am trying to meet a deadline and this is my first break and of course like any normal bookworm I'm spending it reading. I'm only a few chapters into Malcom and Me by Robin Farmer but I already think it's destined to be a classic. And I've already planned on giving it as a gift to several people this month. Do you give books a gifts? If so, how do you decide what book to give which person? I'm giving Malcom and Me to my friend's little sister and my cousins who are all avid readers and who I think would enjoy a book about a Black teenage dealing with the same social issues they are. I have several other books I want to give as gifts this holiday season but I think this will be my goto for the YA lovers in my life. Are you giving books as gifts this year? If so, what are some of the titles?
I hope this new week brings you healing energy ❤

Happy Sunday, I hope you didn't think it was Monday like I did nearly all morning 😂 I woke up, made coffee, organised my desk, plugged my laptop to charge, opened my emails and just as I was about to send a project update email I went to check dates in my calendar and after a LONG confusing moment it finally hit me. Today is in fact SUNDAY and I should be in bed journaling or practicing deep meditative breathing instead of bothering a business acquaintance on their day off.
Now that I know it's Sunday I made a real breakfast of oatmeal with slices of orange, half a bananas, blueberries and topped with honey, flaxseeds, and chia seeds. I'm currently in bed with my oatmeal bowl, my second cup of coffee, and the last of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab which I've been dying to finish but just haven't had the time. How are you spending this gorgeous Sunday? And what are you reading or watching this weekend?
I hope your weekend ends on a positive note and the coming week brings you healing energy ❤✨
It's the small things like a cup of coffee at the PERFECT temperature, a conversation with someone you GENUINELY like, checking off a task you previously thought was IMPOSSIBLE, or even something as simple as getting a parking spot RIGHT by the door that can change your WHOLE perspective on a day. I woke up this morning in a weird grumpy mood, absolutely NOT enjoying anything at all. It SERIOUSLY felt like a black cloud was following me around but then I got a voice note from my cousin saying she was just thinking of me and wanted to check in and my mood suddenly did a COMPLETE 180. She's British so listening to her talk in her CUTE London accent ALWAYS cheers me up. I say all that to say take note of the small POSITIVE things in your day and TRY not to let all the negativity overshadow them. How are you doing? how's your week so far? Have you had small moments of joy or peace? I hope this day is treating you well ❤
HELLO TUMBLR 👋🏾
Being back on Tumblr after so many years is SO weird 🙆🏿♀️ I definitely don't think I have the same brain cells that used to make custom themes but I'm looking forward to exploring the landscape of this app again and hopefully finding new favourite blogs. I hope things haven't changed that much. I love being part of Instagram's book community so I hope there's a similar community here. If you know of cool book blogs please link me in the comment section 🙏🏾
