I wonder would everyone hate me if I made this chapter only 4 segments and extended the pre-canon explorations into a fourth chapter... I did promise that the fic would feature some Janka but for that to happen we have to catch up 😭😭 So slow burn they don't meet until chapter 5 ? Not sure how well that will go over.

I keep, instead of moving onto the next segment, going back and adding things to the third segment. This is NOT how you write consistent chapter lengths, brain.

For this fic, I'm trying to have each chapter broken into around 6 segments, each at around 2k words... however I'm already at nearly 8k words for this chapter and I'm only 2.5 segments in. So my goal of 12k words per chapter has turned into an underestimation, rather than a word limit.
Trying to find the balance between "is this too heavy handed" and "this is my fic i do what i want" but also "this character would not be self aware enough for the inner dialogue to be that specific"

Chapter 3 is shaping up to be twice as long as chapter 2 if I continue at the current pace 😭 we are still in pre-canon territory oh this is ridiculous.
Some days you can write 2k words in a few hours no problem. Other days you write 300 and it feels like bashing your skull into a brick wall for the entire process.
