Another thing I really love about Trinity Santos is that she is genuinely just kind of an asshole. I feel like a really common trap people fall into is having characters who are only mean in a fun way, which all the other characters take in good humor (e.g. Langdon and Garcia's dynamic) or are seen as kind of antagonists (Ogalvie) or might be rude to their peers but are always kind to patients (Dana).

Meanwhile Santos is constantly hurting people's feelings, and only sometimes on purpose. She goes the extra mile for her patients on a good day, but not on a bad one (see: constantly ducking out on Harlow.) Isa Briones said that she thinks that Santos is afraid to relax around Whittaker because she knows he'd be her best friend--except she already had a best friend, whose suicide she couldn't prevent, and she doesn't want another one. She's 60% trauma 20% bullshit and it's not cute and fun, it's an actual issue
