if you've ever noticed that indeed barely has any jobs on it lately, it's NOT just you. they started charging companies to post job listings on there and it seems to have significantly decreased the amount of posts (at least anecdotally).

i completely understand & agree with the backlash against students using chatgpt to get degrees but some of you are out here saying "getting a degree in xyz means pulling multiple consecutive all-nighters and writing essays through debilitating migraines and having severe back pain from constantly studying at your desk and chugging energy drinks until you get a kidney stone and waking up wishing you were dead every day, and that's just part of the natural process of learning!!!" and like. umm. i don't think that any of us should have had to endure that either. like maybe the solution for stopping students from using anti-learning software depends on college institutions making the process of learning actually sustainable on the human body & mind rather than a grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor

just saw a pigeon doing the puffed up courtship dance thing to another pigeon, and as he was strutting around he suddenly stopped for a split second to do a very brief preen-peck at his own side, then returned to the strutting around. and i surprised myself by instantly losing respect for the male pigeon in that moment, like come on man i appreciate you had an itch or whatever but how is she supposed to feel special when you're getting distracted by bullshit like that? which on reflection i don't endorse, i mean those are pretty harsh dating norms i'm imposing on these pigeons, from a total outsider perspective, for no reason. probably not all girl pigeons are as uptight about that sort of thing as i would apparently be if i was a girl pigeon, maybe she even found it endearing who knows, i don't know her. it's none of my business really. sorry pigeons.

I think it's Gabrielle that disappoints me the most. Anne Rice started writing the vampire chronicles in a context where women could not own their own bank accounts, when marital rape was not criminalised, and in my country at a time when women could not legally drink in public. To take a character who is so clearly informed by the author's frustrations with gender in a world that does not recognise her as a full and autonomous person and turn her into a one-note villainous sexpot is not only boring it's incredibly insulting
