Passiflora coccinea (Scarlet Passion Flower). Native to the amazon in South America. It's been overwintered in a greenhouse in Vancouver, BC. Just flowering now in September.

I found a blue woodbug in the garden today. My interest is peaked! The woodbugs turn blue or purple when they're sick. Their blood turns blue when oxygenated due to hemocyanin in the blood.

Blue Woodbug = mind blown! Has anyone ever seen one any colour other than grey?

Paeonia peregrina. Wild Peony seeds that are fluorescent pink! The black seeds are viable and the pinks have been "aborted". I'm going to harvest the viable seeds soon.

Podophyllum, Paris, and Edgeworthia! The Podophyllum and Paris are in the greenhouse and blooming exceptionally early. Edgeworthia smells fantastic. The yellow varieties even more so.

Started germinating my Clitoria ternatea vine today in the solarium! I'm hoping that an earlier start than last year might actually get me some flowers.

This is on an (English Laurel) Prunus laurocerasus. Always remember that common names are in parenthesis and capitalized. Latin or Scientific names are in Italics or underlined. The genus is always capitalized. The species is not.
