âThe Sixth Cabin â A True Camping Horror Story From the Forestâ
One of Us Never Came Back.
(A Story From Pine Hollow, Colorado)
People who live near Pine Hollow donât like talking about the cabins anymore.
The county records say there are five rental cabins around the lake.
Tourists see five when they arrive.
Five when they walk the trails.
Five when they check the map nailed to the wooden welcome sign.
But sometimesâonly sometimesâpeople swear there was another one.
And every time someone remembers seeing itâŚ
someone from their group doesnât come home.

We all joked about it.
Looking back, I wish we hadnât.
