Methinks Derek is such a Busy Man(busy with minecraft contraptions) that he thinks eating is genuinely bothersome. Its a waste of time when he COULD be doing things he enjoys, like tinkering and playing minecraft or studying or finishing a project for a client or whathaveyou. So he opts for these liquid meals (SOYLENTS ARE ADVERTISED AS LIQUID MEALS TAKE NOTE EVERYONE) so he doesnt have to ever leave his room.

Oh man he. Probably stinks. If he's THAT unwilling to just go out into the kitchen and cook a thing of ramen ohhhh.... uhm.... he probably has similar "what a biological waste of time" train of thought towards showers. Oh. I hate to be the bearer of bad news everyone.

Eh but my heart's not in it. I think he stinks an odd amount but he's not like. Disgusting. I think his main issue is he gets so invested in whatever he's doing he forgets to take care of himself. Maybe he's self-conscious about it. Maybe he forgets to brush his teeth for a few days and realizes and feels gross and icky and hates it, but he locked in so good time passed without him knowing.

He has trouble eating and he's aware of this. He thinks its a bother and irritating and interrupts him when he's having fun so he compromises with his body and drinks soylent to keep himself functioning.
