You play as a reagent, your very own customizable homeless person that was lured in with the promise of food and shelter, got strapped down to a table and pumped with LSD is now forced to, well, Outlast these Trials!!!!

The trials are a series of tests that the doctors put you trough. Enviroments simulating real life scenarios plagued with other Murkoff experiments that are out to Get You. you are given various tasks and puzzles that you need to solve before they can "let you out". the whole time you are being watched and graded on your performance, and its meant as training for your eventual release as an unwilling goverment agent.

Gameplay wise!! it definetly stands out to the other outlast games, some trials fans don't care about outlast and some og outlast fans cant stand trials fans. i personally got into trials first before my girlfriend made me play the first three outlast stories and they are quite frankly all a banger.

I'd mostly reccomend it to play with friends!! Its definetly doable, and theres a whole community dedicated to speedruning trials solo, but i find the game a lot more enjoyable when its 2 or more dumbasses in a call trying to get anything done while getting hunted down by the horrors

The lore is not the foward aspect of the game for sure. You pick up some clues through idle npc dialogue and a few cutscenes every season. But most of it is hidden through documents that are scattered throughout the trial grounds. There are a LOT of documents, they go into the corporation, members of the staff, certain reagents, the state of the facility, society outside of Sinyala and more! You can go the whole game without reading any of the document but as a fellow destiny player i get giddy spending most of my in-game time hunting down text to read.

The monetization is kind of insane, in a good way! The game is pretty cheap compared to the industry standard and what it offers, and it goes on sale pretty often (i think its on sale right now!!). all content updates are free!!!! the only monetization goes into cosmetics and you dont even Have to pay for them, you can get everything for free if you grind long enough.

The game is also very explicitly sexual and violent without crossing the edgy line, which to me is a huuge breath of fresh air in the era of ad-friendly unalive slop. That, of course, comes with pages and pages of content warnings you should watch out for. outlast trials is Scary and its meant to make you Uncomfortable. all the characters Suck. The recent update documented the director of the thing cutting himself, there are lore snippets documenting rape inside the facility, in some of the trials you slowly guide a poor naked, bloody scapegoat screaming for mercy before you give them any of the Murkoff-Specials slow and painful deaths, sometimes you have to put your hands inside corpses to either dig keys out or stuff things in. Its a handful! and id advice anyone sensitive to that kind of stuff to look into all the possible triggers before going in. Sounds like a duh moment but youd be surprised at the amount of people policing this fandom over topics that are already explicit in the source material. did i say all the characters suck? all the characters suck btw.

as for my drawing!! that man was Dr. Hendrick Joliet Easterman. Hes the director of the project and your self-proclaimed father, hes the person that will "talk to you" the most throughout the game and hes using every manipulation tactic in the book. Hes shaping you into the perfect subject. Hes progressively losing his fucking mind and the fandom is currently joyous over the fact that hes hurting himself (love him or hate him). Im personally crazy obsessed with him and you can see more in my trials tag #🕷️👁️🐑

SORRY FOR THE RAMBLE. i really like this game and i need everybody to play it actually, the fandom needs more people with reading comprehension. Its on pc, ps4, ps5 and xbox, and its crossplay even!!!! even if you dont want to play it, just the characters and lore are worth it, the whole things also a big commentary on american society. masterpiece imo
