Things to do with your yumeship, cheap crafts edition! (Some require materials, some scraps)
Not everyone can afford merch and not many have money for fancy crafting materials! Personally, even if I have the means to buy merch or buy expensive art materials, still throughly enjoy making stuff out of scraps, just so they donāt go to waste! If for any reason you need cheap craft ideas, this list was made specifically with you in mind ^_ā
1. Bracelets ; if you own a kit* you can make many bracelets easily! And if you donāt ā you can use ribbons, leather or any other material for bracelet adjacent accessories! (* a kit with 1000 beads for 6⬠will get you around 32 bracelets (30 beads per bracelet) averaging around 18 cents a bracelet) tutorial on thread bracelets (two threads, beginner friendly)
2. Traditional art ; doodles or full pieces can be made using just a pencil and a piece of paper!
3. Tracing ; touchy subject in the art community, but printers are pricy, and not everyone can afford printing at the library. But I think that if you have art of your f/o, s/i or both, then you can trace it on paper either by placing it on your screen or using it as reference. You can eg. hang it on your wall! (As long as you donāt claim the art as yours (if itās not yours in the first place) youāre fine, have fun)
4. Pins ; you can make your own pins! If you can buy those clear pins you can put pictures in you can use those, or make your own pins! Point 3. can be helpful for the picture (for your own base you can use hot glue & tape. I personally did my bases out of self-drying clay and tape)
5. Keychains ; my dad has a laminate machine, so I used that and hot glue or self-drying clay. But you can use the same materials for the base and tape instead of laminate!
6. Standees ; I did mine out of cardboard and paper personally, but im sure thereās many ways to do it!
7. Figurines ; I made some figures out of clay (both self-drying and regular (?). This is a bit time consuming and requires a lot of carefulness and creativity. But if that sounds fun you should give it a try!
8. Papercrafts ; thereās a lot of bases or premade papercrafts on the internet! Iām sure you can find one of your f/o or even draw it yourself!
9. Journal entries ; you donāt even have to write anything, it can be like a scrapbook! Draw images of your f/o or just find random receipts and junk you can tape or glue onto a page!
10. Collages ; basically an alternative to point 9. This one can be anything and not necessarily in a journal!
11. Clothes & accessories ; if youāre handy with knitting/crocheting or sewing (bonus points if you or your family owns a sewing machine) you can make different clothing items that fit your f/o or s/i! (Eg. Leg warmers, headbands (small projects), sweaters or dresses (larger projects)
12. Accessories ; you can make bracelets, earrings and necklaces out of different laces and chains! You can thrift some or find large amounts for cheap
13. Props ; if your f/o or s/i has some kind of prop or weapon ā you can recreate it using cardboard, hot glue and paint! This is a larger project if the prop is big, but itās definitely doable
14. Bookmarks ; you can make those using basically anything. Paper and scraps and some tape. Lace or ribbons optionally!
15. Painting over items ; you can paint basically over anything. Shells and different boxes, things you bought or thrifted but arenāt the correct color!
16. Plushies ; felt plushies are the easiest to make, but you can go all in with more material! For felt plushies you donāt even need filling if you donāt want it to be bulky or soft
17. Buttons ; honestly, buttons can be found almost everywhere in large amounts (if thereās none at home, go try find some thrifting! Theyāre usually found in big amounts) and they can also be used for anything and are easy to sew in! Eg. Accessories and just decor for your clothing. Use this for your advantage, especially if you find a color that reminds you of your f/o or s/i
18. (Continuing point 17s theme) Soda tabs ; also can be collected very easily and quickly and can be used in the same manner as buttons (again, use junk and scraps for your advantage!..)
19. Papier-mĆ¢chĆ© ; tedious, time consuming, but doesnāt need that much materials! Paper, water and flour. It can be a big mess tho, so be careful, so you donāt have to clean that much afterwards!
20. Cards ; love cards for your f/o! Write something nice and decorate them with all kinds of stuff!
21. Hama beads ; you can make many stuff with it! You just need the beads themselves, a base and an iron or any hot air for them to solidify into a shape or figure you want!
22. Stickers ; you can make your own stickers using paper and tape!
23. Herbarium ; find flowers and leaves you can then press, dry and tape! You can use this for a bigger idea or just as is. Try making a drawing out of the different leaves!
You can also always go to the internet and look up DIYs and come up with something you can create that would remind you of your f/o or s/i!
But honestly just use your creativity! Save up scraps and junk, go thrifting for inspiration or look around you! Creativity will come and usually art doesnāt need any fancy equipment or materials. Donāt create as a chore, always do it for fun! ā¤ļø
