Leo Santos | Slave | 3,750 | Valkyrie (Fire Elemental/Kindness) | Versatile
âFire doesnât have to rage to survive. Sometimes it just has to stay lit.âÂ
Leo Santos had not always had a name.
Long before he walked the earth, he existed as a fire elemental spirit drifting through the astral plane, observing the mortal world through flickers of heat and fragments of emotion. He watched civilizations rise and fall, watched lives begin and end in the blink of an immortal eye, and learned that mortals were fragile things. Somewhere between observation and empathy, curiosity became compassion â and compassion became action.
By the time the First War spread across the realms, Leo had already stepped beyond simply watching. He moved through battlefields as both healer and warrior, burning away monsters one moment while pulling the wounded from death the next. He never saw those acts as opposites. Sometimes kindness meant mending a life. Sometimes it meant ending one before more suffering could follow.
It was that unwavering compassion that eventually led to his ascension.
As a Valkyrie of Kindness, Leo was entrusted with abilities that matched the heart he had carried long before becoming divine. He entered the Second War against the vampires with renewed purpose, fighting beside those who could no longer defend themselves. Over the years, he became known less for his victories than for the lives he refused to abandon, carrying the same quiet determination whether he held a blade or reached out to heal. Unfortunately, it wasnât enough to change the tides and the vampires won, the Council established, and slave castles along with their solidified regime.Â
Leoâs anger burned long after the end of the war. He refused to give up. He refused to accept this outcome. So he found ways ââ smaller ways ââ to keep fighting against the Council and protect the perfectly flawed mortals and immortals heâd come to care for long before he left the astral plane. His efforts reunited him occasionally with Second War veterans who shared his sentiment. Some heâd met, some he hadnât. It touched him to see he wasnât the only one still fighting.Â
Ultimately his refusal to back down was what got him captured.Â
It happened almost a decade ago and it took more than one hunter to finally subdue him. He was bound, sold into slavery, and passed from one master to another in Krovs. Years taught him the shape of captivity, but they never convinced him to surrender the part of himself that cared. Kindness became quieter. More cautious. Never absent.
Heâd been claimed and purchased and taken away from Krovs with his owner. Now, Leo has once again been returned to the Undercroft for another stint in the castle he loathes with his very core. The walls are familiar. The chains are familiar. He is, too.Â
That fire within him still burns, refusing to go out no matter how many times the world tries to smother it.
