WELCOME, CRAWLERS. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
Smile for the camera, bitches.
It's about to begin. Preparations to transform Krovs Castle, Krovs Town, and the road in between for the inaugural crawl are underway. Crawlers are signing up either voluntarily or involuntarily, game guides are being downloaded on the environment, and vampire lodgings are being setup.
For the week of August 17th, Krovs Castle and the surrounding town become a hunting ground. Creatures conjured from other realms, twisted beasts, and magical horrors now roam freely throughout Krovs. They’re incapable of being tamed and the only way out is to kill. Oh, and try managing that when the castle and town are filled with traps and magical encounters to make this simple task a little more challenging!
Before the event begins, every vampire will be evacuated to the heavily secured luxury hotel just on the edge of Krovs Town's residential area. The hotel has been setup specifically for this event with televisions in public lounge, bar, and restaurant areas, as well as their own private suites, where they will observe the proceedings through live broadcasts. Every hallway, courtyard, rooftop, and street in Krovs is watched by magically protected cameras, allowing vampire viewers to witness every alliance or betrayal, narrow escape, monster encounter, and even intimate moments in real time. This broadcast will also be televised to the rest of the world, much like a reality game show.
All crawlers, regardless if they're slave, staff, or villager, will begin inside Krovs Castle. Residential suites will be magically designated as safe rooms to rest and recover where no monsters may enter. Villagers will be assigned unoccupied staff suites to start in. Outside those rooms, however, the protections disappear.
The Vampire Council and masters will ensure all unclaimed and owned slaves are armed and armored appropriately for their species so that everyone, humans included, have a fair chance at survival. Staff members and villagers playing the game will be given just enough information to prepare themselves similarly.
All collar power negations will be removed. Every supernatural participant will have full access to their powers, however, the collars will stay on. An additional enchantment has been added to all collars (both slaves and staff members) or other claimed slave accessories that will immediately restore power negations should a contestant attempt to either escape Krovs or go off-script and hunt down a master. Villagers for this event will also be given a collar like staff members to prevent the latter. Note that these collar enchantments do not protect crawlers from each other…
Will you survive long enough to make it to the end? And will you serve up enough drama to entertain the world?
Because the audience is always watching.
So let’s give them a show.
Players will be in charge of selecting armor and any weapons their crawler characters will be wielding during the game. This is still a modern day fantasy so inspirations can range from fantasy armor to modern military/tactical style to a touch of cyberpunk. Weapons can be anything from blades, bows, firearms, hammers, axes, maces, and spears to that improvised baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire or wooden chair leg carved into a stake type of thing.
Those with game guides or masters viewing the crawl can also choose outfits if they like, though it doesn't have to be armor. These can be civilian clothes, themed costumes, formal dress –– anything goes here!
Outfits should NOT be posted before the event begins on August 17th.
Our inaugural Dungeon Crawl event will last OOC for two weeks from August 17th until August 31st. In-game, this event will last for a full week.
The event will be broken into three parts as crawlers traverse through the castle and down into Krovs Town, with Part I kicking off the event at 12PM EST on the 17th. The second and third parts will drop with additional information on Wednesday and Friday respectively. Players with crawlers are welcome to manage their threads here how they like, whether they have individual threads set in each part of the event OR they start threads in Part I and time skip those into Parts II and III OR a mix of both. Group threads and doubling (or writing two of your own characters together in a thread with another player) are also highly encouraged as options given this event will require character teamwork and player collaboration. Be sure to communicate preferences with other players to avoid any confusion!
While this event is not mandatory for participation, it does affect the whole castle and town, which would make it difficult for all characters in game to avoid engaging with it in some way, shape, or form. Players can choose whether they want to participate or not. Please see this post here for player communication requirements on participation.
If your characters are on the UNKNOWN list here, please inform the admin of your character roles via Discord by 11PM EST on August 14th. Continued silence after this deadline will be taken as consent for all current character roles. Unknowns will be considered as non-participation and automatically moved to OBSERVERS before the event begins.
Players who are participating in the event MUST put non-event threads on hold for the next two weeks. This is to ensure that event time is used for event things. Given the exciting chaos of this specific event, it’s advised to use the full two weeks devoted to starting, pushing, and even possibly near finishing event threads. If players have one or two non-event threads they’ve discussed with a partner they want to keep moving during an event for specific reasons, that is acceptable. However, we should be seeing a dash full of more event threads than non-event ones during the event. All non-event threads can be picked back up again once the event is over.
Players should only post starters (both open and closed) that are related to the event during this time. Please ensure to tag all event-related open starters with #krovscastlestarter and mention @krovscastlestarters so that we can find and reblog them easily. Our open starter rules linked here still apply! Players should respond to other opens instead of just relying on posting their own. Open starters NOT related to Dungeon Crawl will not be reblogged to our starter blog until after the event ends.
Anyone looking to post event-related open starters should do so by the evening of Friday, August 29th. This is to ensure that all event open starters receive enough responders before both our event ends on Monday, August 31st. Any open starters posted after the second Friday in our event will NOT be accepted.
Anyone looking to have their character disobey IC rules of the game (escape attempts, hunting down the Council, killing another crawler) MUST have their plots pre-approved by the admin BEFORE following through on the dash so that the appropriate consequences can be plotted out afterwards. Admin approval is also needed for anyone who wants to incorporate a character death/species change plot during this event. Please see our rules linked here for reminders.
Applications will NOT be accepted during this event as it would be difficult and unfair for new characters to find connections and new interactions coming in during the middle of the game. Our last acceptance round pre-event will occur tonight (August 10th). Players and potential newcomers are welcome to submit applications to the inbox and they will be held until our next round on August 31st.
Players, please LIKE this post to indicate it has been read.
