Now I’m an adult and people my age have their lives in order and I’m stuck here, confused, because I never planned to be alive and I’m so far behind.

I want to make an addition to this. I made this post a long time ago.

I’m currently back in university, and I’ve made so much progress with my trauma. I’m in a loving relationship.

Things can and will get better. It’s not too late.

I’m getting married. I’m still in that loving relationship.

I’ve been married a little over two years. I just got home from friendships that feel like home and family. My husband and I have our own place. I have a full ass book ready to be published.

Another design is using 2 20x25x1 filters, taping them to the sides of the box fan and then to each other so they sort of make a triangle, then cutting cardboard to make a top and bottom to the triangle.

This was discovered as a more effective design during the 2020 US west coast fires.

Prompt #3 - Free day!

Wanted to draw the Ace Attorney X Professor Layton designs...I haven't drawn them enough. 👀

Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until they’re big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when they’re able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we don’t have a major crash in a decade or two.

The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).

The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.

But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who haven’t settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely don’t even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

Klavier didn’t really believe in soulmates. After all, his own parents were soulmates, and they’d hated each other’s guts as long as he could remember. So he flirted, went on dates, hooked up with other people, hoping to have some semblance of choice in his love life. Hoping that even if he couldn’t control much in his life, that he could at least choose that much.

It never stuck. Most encounters he had in the dating world ended once his date realized he wasn’t their soulmate. Even if he was okay with people only dating him on the search their soulmates, the sting always lingered. He had always hoped that someone would choose him anyways.

After another failed date, Klavier came home to his apartment. He shed his shoes and jacket and headed right for the couch. Sighing, he stared at the ceiling for a moment. Granted, the date had been lovely, but his date determined he wasn’t their soulmate. But it left him feeling even lonelier in the depths of his heart.

Deciding the quiet wasn’t helping, he got up and picked up his guitar. Before he knew it, his fingers were strumming a familiar tune. A lullaby his Nana had always sang to him. The strings vibrated under his fingers, and the lyrics bubbled to the surface, as well as the tears.

With each word, his burdens felt lighter and lighter. By the end of the song, he had come back to himself. And that’s when he noticed a thought in the back of his head. A nagging feeling that he was being watched.

Then it clicked.

Suddenly, he was seeing the view in another living room. A cartoon was playing on the TV. The theme song sounded like the steel samurai, but it seemed to be in khur’ainese, so Klavier couldn’t quite place it. He was quickly hidden under a blanket, a chunky gold bracelet and pajamas the last things he saw before the blanket blocked his sight.

Or, as Klavier realized, it was his soulmate hiding under the blanket.

And it seemed he was… embarrassed.

And despite Klavier’s denial of soulmates, he couldn’t help but find it adorable. He laughed in disbelief that his highly emotional song performance had been interrupted by his soulmate watching some silly steel samurai copycat in old, worn pajamas while cuddling a cat. Whatever tears he had left had been chased away. Grateful for the relief, he hoped his soulmate enjoyed the performance, and wouldn’t be too embarrassed for long.

Maybe Klavier didn’t believe in soulmates. But maybe, for once, he was willing to try.

Apollo cursed from under his blanket, his face a bright shade of red.

Having been so entranced by his soulmate’s voice, he had completely frozen where he sat. It wasn’t until after his soulmate noticed they had connected that Apollo realized his current status: Curled up under a blanket on his living room couch in his favorite old pajamas, Mikeko on his lap, and plumed punisher on the TV to comfort him from a long day of job hunting.

Being told he could connect with his soulmate at any time was one thing, it was another thing to actually be caught so off guard.

For a long time, Apollo had kept to himself so strongly to keep himself from the pain that came with going to foster home after foster home. The Terrans took years to get him to open up. Despite Clay’s efforts, there was no way he was ready for his Soulmate to know so much of him.

But after he heard their voice, and all the pieces of themself in their song, somehow Apollo managed to ease up. It touched a deeply buried part of Apollo he hadn’t felt in years, one that never truly knew what it was like to have a place to call home. He wasn’t sure what to make of that.

And then there was his soulmate’s laugh. His gut always told him to stay wary, stay skeptical, stay safe. Yet this time, it wasn’t. Something rang true in that laugh, and he had a suspicion it wasn’t a laugh heard often. Once most people never got to hear. Yet Apollo couldn’t decide whether that made him more or less anxious.
