The gasp from Cat soon clues her in though, but Kara tries to style it out through her blushes, turning around to hand the Mont Blanc back to its rightful owner.

“What did I say about behaving at work?” Cat hisses through gritted teeth, as Kara makes to leave. They’re the only ones in the office at this hour, Kara confirms with a blast of x-ray vision, and Cat seems all too aware of that fact when she taps Kara on the hip and tells her, “do that again”.

Kara does, the lacy sundress exposing her every bit as much as before, and if anything she’s even wetter from the sudden scrutiny of Cat’s close attention; it’s been a long week and Kara is not above drastic measures to get Cat’s attention on her at last.

warning: it’s sorta fluffy but it also works for angst week….

“I can’t believe you missed my birthday,” Cat hissed as she stomped through the door, right into Kara’s personal space. “You hounded me and pouted and begged until I told you. Why? So you could completely ignore it?”

Cat was furious. She’d been dropping hints for weeks about what she expected from today and it was completely out of character for Kara to let her down.

“Today is supposed to be my day, Kara. You said that! You said you’d get me whatever I wanted, even if you had to fly around the world twice to get it. Honestly it was all a little saccharine for my taste but still, one shouldn’t promise things they don’t plan to deliver.”

Cat rolled her eyes and stepped back from Kara momentarily to remove her jacket and place her bag in a nearby chair. “You like to think you’re so romantic, but there were no flowers in my office this morning. There was no horribly embarrassing bouquet of balloons. There was no one in my bed waking me up with those sentimental little kisses you insist on pressing all over my face.”

Cat’s voice caught and she cleared her throat as she moved back to Kara’s side and took her hand. “It was supposed to be my day,” she whispered, “and all I could think about was you and what you’d be doing if you were here.”
