Shop Open

Dale cocked his head. He noticed the shadow from the corner of his eye, glanced at it sidelong, and caught the slithery form of the shadow moving along the walls and down the shelves and across the floor. Hm. He felt the shop readying their defenses, but he held up a hand to pause it; no point in starting a fight when they didnāt really have to. Instead, he leaned forward and peered at, into the laptop screen.Ā āOoh. Look, Iām okay with being haunted, but I kind of like to know who and why.Ā So what are you - a ghost, a psychic afterimage, or just a warning being sent in from somewhere outside?ā He had entirely the wrong expression for this; not fearful at all, rather curious, wide-eyed and interested.Ā
It was hard to tell where whatever was lurking in the shop was. Was he that indistinct darkness at the edge of the reflections in the laptop screen? Sitting in the shadow at the end of a bookcase right behind Dale?Ā Regardless, the quiet voice was still coming from the computerās speakers. Why would it sound so similar to that other strange boy who had come in? Except where that boyās voice had been warm and friendly with a bit of a stammer, this personās voice was more precise, cold and apathetic.
Ā āA remnant,ā the presence said.Ā āA leftover piece. Iām called Hollow.ā The laptop let out another hiss of static.Ā āIām surprised the normal ghosts havenāt started bothering you yet. Iām just here to look around, see whatās up with this place. And with you.ā There was a definite sense of movement, but was still not easy to tell where Hollow was. āI just recently came into a whole lot of information, but itās all ancient and disorganized. Itās hard to figure out anything much about what I am.ā
There was a pause, and then:Ā āIf you have anything here, you can have a warning from me. Or a question answered.ā
