I find that hard to reconcile with how 18th century dresses had boobs practically hanging out of them. Maybe the chest wasn’t as sexualized as the ankles were back then…

My sophomore English teacher who taught us about that time period in literature would joke about this in class. He would lift up his pant leg to show his ankle and move it around, kind of like doing the stanky leg, singing “bow chicka wow wow” all flirty like. Cracked me up because it was accurate
