But then I saw this scene:

Sam holds the Ring out to Frodo, and for a few moments he is tempted by it, Frodo has to snatch it off him, because he nearly takes it for himself. Samwise Gamgee himself is almost overcome by the Ring’s immense power. 

In seconds. 

Frodo isn’t weak. Frodo carried the One Ring from The Shire to Mount Doom, and was only overcome by it’s power at the very end. He managed to carry the Ring for a year, when few others could manage mere seconds or days with it.
