Around 50 people dressed fully in black stood silently in a military-style formation in the road outside the Glasgow office building on Friday, appearing to imitate the Blackshirts of Mussoliniâs National Fascist Party. They appear to have taken umbrage with coverage of their âsilent protestsâ held around Scotland in the Daily Record, which revealed one of the men involved as a ânotorious football thugâ. The gathering outside the newspaper office was the fourth in Scotland this summer and the third in Glasgow. The crowd of protesters stood in a military grid formation while one member placed a flag baring a picture of a wolf alongside the name âALBA DEFENSORâ (meaning âDefend Scotlandâ) and the slogan âprotecting Scotlandâ outside the office doors. The flag was accompanied by a burning candle and the handwritten note: âIt takes courage to seek the truth, it takes none to spread suspicion.â Neil McIntosh, Daily Record editor and Reach Scotland editor-in-chief, told Press Gazette: âOur top priority is to protect our teams as they continue to report without fear on the far-right voices trying to intimidate us and others across Scotland.â The National Union of Journalists expressed concern over increasing intimidation towards journalists in Scotland.

obviously objectively itâs terrible but it is pretty funny watching terfs scramble to defend 1. taking upskirt photos of people you disagree with 2. rejecting women from rape crisis lines based on their voices 3. JK Rowlingâs offer to pay the legal feels of anti-abortion & pro-conversion therapy organisations. all because this slightly-above-average childrenâs fantasy author somehow so thoroughly became the face of a hate movement that basically nobody within that hate movement is willing to criticise her even when she objectively acts against their interests. itâs genuinely kind of baffling to watch.
