Hittite Polytheist

Name: You may call me Huzziya. I have taken this name on after King Huzziya I of the Hittites, who ruled c. 1530 - 1525 BCE. Please note that any Hittite politics I post about will attempt to be looked at it through multiple & nuanced views, with sources from archaeologists & Hittitologists. 

Pronouns: He/him. 

Age: Irrelevant. However, I am an adult. I do not post my age unless absolutely necessary. 

Religion: I am a syncretic polytheist and self-identified pagan. I am a practicing Hittite polytheist who hopes to revive worship of the Hittite pantheon. I accept questions about my practice and worship, but I will not reveal everything - religion is private as it is communal. 

Why this blog?: I wanted to expand my knowledge & research of the Hittite pantheon & practices with the world. I also had a bet with a friend. Please note that even if you see a post, it does not necessarily mean I am online - I queue posts for your convenience and my own mental health. The gods are in nature just as much as they are online. 

DNI: I do not put up DNI lists, but I am not afraid to use the block button. That said, as I've stated, please feel free to ask any questions you wish - just note I may delete them if I find them crossing a boundary, offensive, or irrelevant to this blog.

Now I sing the tale of Alalu!

Father King of the gods who ruled in his high heaven before time began,

when his son, the mighty Anu -

Came to him with poisoned chalice and bewitched his father to drink

Lord Anu deposed King Alalu, now King Anu rules the high pantheon

But still we sing, for we sing to the Father of the Gods, for we sing to the First King of the Gods!

Praise to Alalu! May you be joyful!

Praise to the gods! May you bless us with wisdom, with protection from ill!
