A Bard with a Guitar

The wizard listened carefully. At first, his brows were narrowed in thought as he took in her words. Because Douxie is vastly aware that Eden was such a huge part of her life, and Alina wouldn't be the person she is today without such a positive force.

But as the right words came to mind rather quickly, he bumped into her side gently. A small smile spread upon his lips.

combat boots come to a rest at the others side, slipping a bit in the crater created by his body. a gloved hand reaches down to gently touch the others shoulder.

"douxie." they say quietly. "wake up." broken bones healed under their touch, infusing the other with the same immortality that they possessed.

But a VOICE, one that was unfamiliar, spurred his attention and slashed through his weary thoughts. It made the dreamlike tremble underneath his feet. The walls of the stone room formed a narrow hallway, and it got longer...and longer...and longer. So long, the white light was snuffed out by the black darkness that splashed into Douxie's eyes.

Then the wizard awoke back into reality with a JOLT. Bruised lungs were forced to take a breath of fresh air for the first time and he coughed violently. But once his fit had begun to settle, he was able to eye the figure that kneeled before his fallen form. They weren't familiar to him...

I feel like I should explain the meaning of his tattoos!!Because I do have reasonings behind it all. So feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, I did do research behind the symbols! 

This is based off The Dara Knot! The name comes from ‘Doire’, which is the irish word for Oak Tree! Trees are seen as a connection to spirits, doorways to other worlds, magic and more - but the sacred tree is the mighty oak! They have a powerful presence due to their lifespan being 300-400+ years. Much like their roots, the lines have no beginning and no end, which supports longevity, endurance, and strength. Douxie is 900+ years old and still growing stronger everyday due to his roots growing deeper into the Earth, so this is a perfect symbol for him! 

The runes here are seen throughout Douxie’s Bio. They are present for a reason, as they are the Arcane symbols for Strength, Protection, Journey, and Growth. 

This is based off the Sailor’s Celtic Knot. Stories say that two ropes were intertwined by sailors to remember their loved ones. A bond that cannot be broken. Douxie has this tattooed on his arm for one significant reason, to remember those in the past that are now long gone from his life. Mentors. Friends. Previous Loves. Found Family. 

He draws strength from being around people, and would not be where he is at if he had to take on the world alone. This is to appreciate the bonds he made over his lifetime.

@chattylilina asked me what his scars/tattoos looks like…and I uh. My hand slipped 😊. Although you can see his scar design better right here in this post, this is mainly a tattoo showcase! 

Also his tattoos are supposed to be a darker shade of blue but tumblr ruined those colors. So thank you, you useless hellsite, for ruining that.

This scene right here, as Twinnie said, is VERY fascinating, and very important to note.  

    - “The order will surely rip your soul to pieces.”

Nari is a REALIST, and as a former of the Order, she knows the power that Bellroc and Skrael possess. She spoke those lines as a genuine warning despite not beating around the bush.

   - “We…really need to work on your pep-talks.”

This line can be interpreted in a couple different ways. At this point in time, Douxie already has it in mind that he won’t come back from this particular adventure. So the demigoddess is stating a fact, one that the wizard ALREADY realizes. Sure, he is being optimistic and hopeful that he will somehow be okay to help her. However, he isn’t denying her statement either because Nari is RIGHT. Skrael and Bellroc proved their strengths time and time again, and despite being a powerful wizard himself who can hold his own against the two, he is still highly aware he holds no match to them. The only way to slow them down is to sacrifice all of his energy, and even then, he knows that won’t fully stop them. As long as he can buy time so that Nari and his friends get away, and he is the PRICE.

Also! The way he said this line. Let me talk about how he trailed out the ‘We’ for several seconds. He sounded…confident YET unsure at the same time. If that makes sense? As if he had to take a brief moment to figure out how to piece together his words. To shape it and guide it away from being a promise.

- “Nari, you must keep running, never stop. You can’t let the Arcane Order find you”

Douxie was CAREFUL with his words here as well. A mask to hide the simple truth - that it’s a “don’t look back” goodbye. He doesn’t want them to know. Doesn’t want them to waste more time to stop him. Thus, he made it sound like he will follow later. Still optimistic if something were to to miraculously change….but still grounded in reality.

But, Nari and Archie needed to flee to safety, and he trusted that his familiar will glide her back to the ground. The window of time was CLOSING as Bellroc and Skrael approached, and he shoved BOTH Nari and Archie through the door with his magic in desperation to get them to move. They would’ve both stayed if he didn’t…

Hell, I don’t believe even ARCHIE knew what was running through Douxie’s head at the moment, because he didn’t even try to STOP his boy. I bet the familiar thought Douxie would escape as well…

But then DOUXIE’S FACE at the end. He IS FEARFUL FOR ARCHIE AND NARI. ALSO UPSET THAT HE DOESN’T HAVE MORE TIME WITH THEM BUT IT HAS TO BE DONE I’M JUST 😭
