The husband’s function is to be the leader of the home: to protect and to provide for his family. The wife’s function is to tend to the household; serving her husband/family and making the house a home.

A reason why many households/relationships encounter issues is oftentimes the woman tries to take the reins and“rule the roost,” so to speak. Wearing the pants in your relationship will do nothing positive and prove to emasculate your husband.

The government can aid you in a trying time, sure. The police may serve as a deterrent, in some cases, and may help you when you need it (but they might not [be able to] in other cases). Your neighbor might be a good buddy and will let you know if something is amiss when you're not at home (or when you are at home).
