It’s okay to ignore parts of a fandom. It’s *okay* to cut out bits that bother you from your daily intake, or bits that you simply have no interest in partaking in. Don’t yuck other people’s yums, that’s mean, but if you don’t like it, you don’t have to eat it, it’s your plate and you decide what goes on it.

getting anxious about putting human food in a scene so you just say oil to make it less conflicting

unsure about how to make a scene more dynamic cause the characters can really only just sit there talking to each other

“IS. LIGHTNING. MCQUEEN. OOC. I SWEAR HE’S OOC IN THIS SCENE”

Or, alternatively: “IS ANYONE IN-CHARACTER IN THIS SCENE OH GOD I DON’T KNOW THIS SERIES AT ALL DO I I’M HORRIBLE”

“wait do they even have windshield wipers”

“how far can they stretch their axles out like arms omg this must read so awkward”

when you have to write Mater’s dialogue and you start  to say it out loud in the Larry the Cable Guy voice cause good God how do you write that voice properly (i.e. occasional horrid grammar and/or catchphrases)

*incoherent screaming about car anatomy*

“Okay would McQueen really cry here no he’d hold it in- but wait a second wouldn’t it be more powerful if he broke down here- alright listen up here-”

But, like the Poison song goes, every rose has its thorn. And I've unfortunately encountered some toxic sides:

-The toxic shipping culture. Now this is definitely not exclusive to this fandom (Hetalia had it MUCH worse) but I've noticed a lot of people, especially younger fans, are really pushy about their pairings to the point they will belittle anyone who doesn't agree with it. And there's certain pairings I'm honestly getting really tired of seeing everywhere. Even SalQueen, which is a pairing I DO ship, I'll be honest I feel it's really overdone.

-Some of the veteran fans can be snobby. NOT ALL are this way but I was unfortunate to deal with some people who tended to look down on newer fans and basically didn't think you were a "real fan" or "truly big fan" if you didn't see the film when it came out in '06.

-The side that doesn't like Cars 2 can be incredibly toxic and that's all I'm gonna say.

-The Discord servers. If I am to be totally honest here....I've left just about every Cars discord server due to drama. 14 year old mods, toxic kids, art theft/painted screenshots, shipping wars, "I have x diecast so I'm a bigger fan" stuff....I thought Tumblr had drama but Discord puts it to shame.
