February Writing Challenge

The wood was deceptively still and silent, but not in it’s usual ways. Birds still twittered in the nearby distance, the wind rustled leaves. It was the something ‘other’ that lie still, holding it’s breath waiting for her to pass.

Gripping her mothers staff in hand Ahru sucked in a deep breath and closed her eyes. Her ears strained, shifting subtly with each new sound that reached them. A low tremor beneath the moss covered forest floor. The Elementals would no sooner speak to her or give her guidance than any exile or outsider, but still she sensed them - watching, waiting.

(Dragon solidarity fist bump.) - Is generally very open-minded and accepting but has a deep, abiding, long-standing grudge and hatred towards sahagin. She’s tried working on it to better understand them (see: beast tribe quests) but it’s been… rough. (see: she hasn’t gone back in a while)
