They're going to have a coin new nickname for this section of the north: Tits Up Tevinter. Things always go tits up in Tevinter. Their contact was absconded by Venatori, they only just narrowly avoided a nasty bar fight, and Varric was hiding a limp as they tried to stick to the shadows. They're following him, because there's something aching in their teeth and blood. A tingling sensation that sings like tinnitus in the wrong sense. The flash of light as the Archon's Palace singles out a civilian makes their head throb, nearly masking the way their blood chills as a seam rips in the sky. They hear Varric curse and move, because that's what needs to be done. It's not until they jump a wall and are greeted by the lovely archery of a familiar friend that they unscramble a thought. "Lace!" There's relief in their voice, because of course there is. Tits Up Tevinter wouldn't be able to stop Lace. Varric either, but there's more concerns there that they won't think about right now. Instead they beam at a familiar freckles face as they're rushing forward, ducking behind her back, and going for the gear she had been guarding. "Long time no see." Her voice cuts like a candy, but in a good way. Better than a bad knife, like the one in their boot. That knife won't do them much good against demons -- well, not this many of them, at least. They hear the creak of a taunt bow string and duck down as they scramble to grab their gear, just in case. "Well good to see you two remember each other." Varric is out of breath as he says it, but they don't think about it. They don't think about how Lace can tell too, because a quip like that would likely have made her laugh. There's a lot of thoughts going into the bin to be sorted and dealt with later. Lace and Varric are talking and it's going right over their head. They don't start to tune back in until they've got their staff and can actually be of use again. They've got to go save Neve and stop Solas. Just two things; nothing major. They look to Lace and they can see a frown setting along her brow. "I can get us to Dumat Plaza." They nod, because of course she can. She's already turning, ready to lead the way. There's more thoughts being thrown into the bin, for later (so they say), but they catch her by elbow. Not enough to dislodge the careful way she holds her bow at the ready, but enough to get her to pause. Just long enough a kiss can land on a warm cheek and they can force her to see their smile. Just in case. "Lead the way -- I've got your backs!" ( Just in case. )
