Would you feel like infodumping a bit about your bsd pokemon au? I saw some art and i'm curious :o

i have a tag for the posts i made for my AU: #bsd pokemon au
it's all over the place and honestly not as much as I have actually thought about it.
Anyway.
this started cuz I gave Chuuya a Ralts, as I often do with other blorbos, because I like a Ralts to sense the feelings of a character and know they're kind or lonely or someone to trust
then i dragged Dazai into this and thought how funny it would be to have a Bellsprout hanging around his shoulder walking around the PM headquarters and knew the move Gastric Acid (suppresses the target's Ability while it remains in battle), good at dodging attacks (good sparing partner against Chuuya and his Combusken)
and my main route pokemon au began! Mainly focused on soukoku but I have thought of what pokemon goes to some characters and why, plus some scenarios i play in my head.
Unfortunately I can't decide on Atsushi and Akutagawa's pokemon. I started with feel good pokemon for soukoku and then now I'm reading too into what could be shin soukoku's.
I also am trying to figure out how to make Atsushi's ability work into this AU since he turns into the weretiger. One thought was shiny (or even white ) Hisuian Arcanine since they're known as the 'legendary pokemon.' But then i completely forgot about Incineroar lmao.
So that plus what his pokemon would be and paired with Akutagawa.
(plus thinking about Atsushi's ability means I have to think about the implications of Chuuya and Verlaine's and oo boyy...)
That is the main route AU! I have a legendaries route that is based off the pokemon special manga. then casual/miscellaneous routes that are like modern au or hisuian au etc
below is my explanation for soukoku's pokemon in the main route cuz theyre the ones I've given the most thought to ( and i love thinking about themm)
So what is established atm is Chuuya and Dazai's pokemon
Chuuya
Gardevoir
Blaziken
Rockruff
Gardevoir/Ralts was Chuuya's first pokemon. Complements his gravity manipulation and one of the pokemon able to create black holes so it can deal with the extreme environment and power during Corruption.
Considering all the stories of ghost pokemon stealing away kids it wasn't effective against ghost types during Chuuya's time in the Sheep plus Chuuya's ability requiring touch (physical typing)
I's secondary fairy typing is strong against Dragons so yknow. Dead Apple haha.
Blaziken/ Torchic was Chuuya's second pokemon. It was initially Randou's pokemon (hugging a Torchic will give you warmth) and was passed down to Chuuya when he joined the PM.
Known for it's strong blazing kicks and being able to jump 30 story buildings. A very suitable partner for Chuuya.
Rockruff is Chuuya's third pokemon. He gets it before the start of the main canon story of bsd. I gave him a cute pupper. I feel like he wouldn't indulge the idea of getting a dog pokemon during his teen years and not the type to have a lot of pokemon under his belt (maybe in a different scenario).
Gardevoir and Blaziken work alongside him when he's out and doing missions. Rockruff stays at home, not for combat or missions.

Dazai for whatever reason has 5 pokemon lmao. But I imagine they don't stay on Dazai's person or with him at all times unless he needs them close and quite independent. Except for Bellsprout. With the exception for Espeon, none of his pokemon evolve (on the fence about magikarp tho)
Zorua is his first pokemon. Had it since before he joined the PM. Initially paired cuz Zorua are known to change its form into a kid and play tricks. Something about the adults around him were wary if Dazai was human or Zorua.
Dazai is very close with his Zorua. Dazai also lets his Zorua change into him so he can avoid work haha. Or Zorua does it to get food from the cafeteria. Of course also transforms into people during missions to trick people and gather intel. Has its own human transformation.
Chuuya is very close with Zorua, too.
Bellsprout is Dazai's 2nd pokemon. I've already talked about it earlier.
Rattata is his 3rd pokemon. Really honestly there for espionage and breaking into places. Has the move Thief. Is usually in the vents in the PM
Magikarp is his 4th pokemon! He has met this lil guy a few times while floating in the river and thought to make it his. Let's it stay in the river. Not many know he has it.
I've thought either it becomes like a boss of the river and even a wild Gyarados will help Dazai, or evolve it into a Gyrados. (Hence how he got to Standard Island). Also the guy who doesn't have any ride pokemon but hey wait you have a Gyarados?
Espeon is his 5th pokemon! It was originally an Eevee owned by Oda :')
Something something high friendship points evolving during the day (ADA)to become an Espeon. Known to have foresight (connection to Oda)

Below the cut is the long explanation for Chuuya's team and other details
Ralts is Chuuya's first pokemon. Chuuya actually went a few years without a pokemon because his ability was enough even against pokemon and rival groups ( he also had the support of the Sheep's pokemon). Ralts is the first pokemon he made a connection with since waking up in Suribachi. Ralts is not usually seen around Suribachi but it seemed to have wandered into the vicinity and had an interest with Chuuya. Ralts are known to gravitate (ha) towards cheerful people and idt Chuuya was that approachable at first but he has his happy and thoughtful moments. He's straightforward and kind. And seemed interested in this shy wandering lil pokemon, too. They got along quite fine.
Chuuya and the psychic/fairy type Ralts together make a formidable team altho id think Chuuya does most of the rough work and Ralts levitates and teleports allies away. The later evolutions are known to manipulate gravity which is a plus in having paired with Chuuya while also being attuned to his emotions. I also think there is an elegance to Chuuya having a Gardevoir and the whole evolution line can work for whatever rich girl act couldve happened. I think Kouyou would love Chuuya having a Kirlia/Gardevoir, too.
Ralts/Kirlia did not feel comfortable with Dazai at first especially during his and Chuuya's more rough interactions but it sees the bond they have and how trusting they are with each other that Ralts/Kirlia trusts Dazai, as well. When corruption is activated, it is agreed that Dazai will take care of Chuuya's pokemon. Kirlia is usually instructed of Corruption's use or aware of Chuuya's emotional state to make the decision to teleport itself and Combusken to Dazai for safety.
For one Stormbringer scenario, I would put Verlaine's Dusclops against Chuuya's Kirlia for being pokemon that can manipulate black holes.
Torchic is Chuuya's second pokemon. He inherited it from Rimbaud as a Torchic along with his hat. Rimbaud found the little one after he lost his memories. Hugging a torchic grants you warmth so I thought it nice to give Rimbaud a Torchic. I would think the vast energy created by the two transcendental's fight plus Arahabaki attracted random pokemon to gather and thus Torchic and Rimbaud met.
For Chuuya, when I was picking pokemon associations, I was picking a lot ot fire types (my bias). But having a fire and fighting type pokemon that I could give a connection to Rimbaud sealed the deal. I think it great for Chuuya to have a sparring partner that excels in devastating kicks, too. Fire cuz i liken Chuuya for being a bright presence with a fiery personality( a star that turns into a dying star with corruption) and Arahabaki being a fire god. Blaziken can jump 30 story buildings in one leap so I also liked the image of Chuuya and Blaziken soaring through buildings side by side.
I think Torchic would have evolved into Combusken by Stormbringer especially since it had experience as Rimbaud's pokemon as well. I don't want Verlaine to beat a baby torchic.. but i have Ralts evolve during Stormbringer so...
(Also from the start i wanted Kirlia to go up against Dusclops but i just found out Dusclops tend to swallow embers or will-o-wisps into their void of a stomach and I really want to sell why Chuuya lost to Verlaine on their first meeting even with both a ralts and combusken).
Other details (includes a lot of Dazai)
The little tidbit about hugging torchic and getting warmth applies to Dazai who liked holding it before its evolution even when they were around Rimbaud.
Torchic /Combusken is closest to Dazai between Chuuya's two pokemon especially with their sparring and is usually who Chuuya lends/trades to Dazai when he needs a strong pokemon.
Chuuya either has one or the other at his side or both in their pokeballs. It's for intimidation purposes when both are out and at his sides. Both pokemon have quite a refined and strong look about them so Chuuya has quite the image as an executive.
Ralts/Kirlia preferred to be in their pokeball in HQ so Chuuya often walked around with Combusken at his side.
Kirlia and Combusken evolve before the main story but after Dazai's defection.
I imagine him to be a gentleman with his Gardevoir.
The Ralts evolutionary line all have psychic and fairy typings and fairy-types are strong against dragon-types (Dead Apple hmmhmmm )
If Chuuya didn't already have two pokemon at their final evolutions while being a busy executive, I would bet he would have gotten a dog pokemon. Maybe laterrr...
^ I've thought of how he was satisfied with seeing Dazai's Zorua around but then Dazai defected. Chuuya had to restrain himself around Zorua after SKK's reunion 4 years later.
This follows canon BSD, so abilities are still not widely known. Yet quite a number believe god Arceus or some other Mythical bestowed upon humans these abilities.
Corruption exists. They still call the entity Arahabaki.
I'm stubborn about having it connect to a legendary/mythical cuz thats for the legendary route ..
I have a thing where i hand my favorite character a Ralts because it is the emotion pokemon and i need my faves' feelings to be validated and have a dear ralts cheer them up.
Finally some Chuuya and his combusken for the pokemon au.
Originally Randou's torchic (he met the lil one after his memory lost). Chuuya inherited his hat, his pokemon, and some. They both train together and spar with Dazai and his bellsprout.
I imagine when it becomes a Blaziken it would travel alongside Chuuya soaring over buildings in Yokohama.

After everything that happened in Meursault and Yokohama, before they could finally go home and their paths split apart once more—Dazai would have to lie low with Sigma for a while—Chuuya lingered in the bathroom doorway.
They were hiding out in a rundown motel, waiting for Mafia to send reinforcements.
Dazai glanced up from a ridiculous book he'd found lying around and arched a brow.
"What is it?"
Chuuya hesitated. He scratched the back of his neck and looked away. His cheeks burned.
Something soft flickered across Dazai's face. Fondness, tinged with sorrow. With a long sigh, he tossed the book aside and motioned toward the bed.
"Come on, stupid slug. Spit it out."
"Cut my hair."
The smile froze, not because of the request itself. It was unusual now, but once it had been commonplace, back when they were partners in the Mafia.
No, it was the sadness dimming Chuuya's steady gaze that made something crack inside him.
Chuuya only cut his hair when he was mourning.
To remember.
To carry the weight of loss a little longer.
Dazai nodded.
His throat tightened around all the things he couldn't bring himself to say, all the words that remained lodged somewhere deep inside him regardless.
Chuuya crossed the room and sat down in front of him.
Close, but not close enough.
He wasn't that kid anymore—the one who used to sit between Dazai's knees in dingy apartment bathrooms, face streaked with tears, clutching a pair of cheap scissors.
Carefully, Dazai gathered his hair back. His fingers brushed the nape of Chuuya's neck.
Chuuya shivered. Or maybe Dazai did.
He couldn't see his face, he couldn't meet his eyes, but when the first lock of hair fell, Dazai felt the weight of Chuuya's grief settle somewhere beneath his ribs.
"You can't get mad if I butcher it," he said lightly.
The joke landed flat beneath the ache in his voice.
Chuuya scoffed.
"I'll cut your balls off if you do."
Some things, at least, never changed.
When they were done, Chuuya immediately started looking around for a mirror. Dazai hated that his broken leg kept him rooted where he sat.
He hated that he couldn't cross the room, he couldn't wrap his arms around Chuuya's waist.
He couldn't pull him close and hold him there.
"Chibi," he called, forcing a grin back onto his face, "you owe me a box of strawberry Pocky."

just got in one of the volumes of the dead apple manga, and there's some super nice choices going on with the paneling here. I only flipped through it, but the bit where Chuuya is talking to Ango about the Dragon's Head conflict while we're seeing scenes from what happened has some implications and symbolism I like a lot.
the fact that we're seeing these panels while Chuuya is talking about the conflict would suggest that they're based off of his memories of what happened, more than simply being an outsider pov of events as usual. there's a full page showing the destruction he caused, but no detail shots on it, which, to me, implies that it was all sort of a blur for him, just power and destruction.
but then we get this page:
that gentle touch from Dazai is so strong in his memory. there's so much detail here on the rage and drive to destroy, and then one soft touch causes it to fade, and Chuuya can let go and fall back.
the fact that Chuuya's eyes are hidden is a cool choice, too. this isn't really him we're seeing--or at least, it's only a feral part of him. he's lacking important facets of his humanity. there's no thought or understanding on display here, simply fury and gentleness juxtaposed.
and then THIS panel. this one is so nice:
Chuuya remembers Dazai being there for him, but the memory is distant, dreamlike. at the same time, the choice to have them sitting fully in that bright, white light shows the peace and clarity Dazai's nullification brought, in addition to Chuuya being whole once again, humanized. it's a really lovely shot composition.
