Wayland heard the bell ring, and knew it was time for a class he wasnโt particularly looking forward to: Water Specialty. For water elementals like him, or those who at least fell under the category of water, like ice or weather. He knew he would enjoy the material of the class, despite it being a level one course of which he considered himself pretty well-versed in, but he knew little people would be in that class with him- his only hope would be December. He had wanted to say goodbye to Candace, but she seemed wrapped up in her conversation, she turned to the girl Evie.ย โIt was a pleasure meeting you, doll, but I think we must part ways for the upcoming class- hereโs hoping we will catch up in another.โ
Evie looked up at wayland and smiled. โIt was a pleasure. I hope I get to see you soon.โ She turned back to Candace and gave her and Julian a big smile. โAre you in the fire element group too?โ She asked Julian. โWeโre all probably going to the same place!โ
Scarlett heard the bell ring, and turned to Maksim. โYouโre Aether, right? Letโs go to the next class. I donโt want to be late.โ With that being said, she turned on heel and headed out of the library, following the rest of the crowd and hoping to find the room along the way.
Amber glanced at Jericho, who now stood alone, and watched him for just a moment before heading into class. She knew she would have this next class with him, and she was interested in how it would go. She was sure he wouldnโt talk, especially with him being separated from Wayland, but who really knew for sure?

Julianโs eyes widened as he turned to look at the girl, Evie, that spoke to him.ย โTechnically. My elementโs electric, so Iโm under the same vein as fire. Wouldnโt have pinned you,โ He glanced at Candace, before returning it to Evie.ย โEither of you, being fire elementals.โย
Candaceโs face flushed at Julianโs comment.ย โIโm not terribly a fan of itโฆ but yeah, Iโm a fire elemental.โ She stood up and nodded to Evie and Julian.ย โItโs nice to know Iโll know people in the class, though. IโI wonder what exactly we should expect from this class..?โ Candace asked, at the same time she started walking to the exit of the library.
Maksim, barely having the time to translate and truly understand what Scarlett had said to him, began walking after her when she started heading to the next class.ย โAh! Aezzer, yes. I am apart, and you too? Fun, fun!โ Maksim grinned in Scarlettโs direction when he caught up to her, a bit like a puppy chasing after a troubled owner.
Evie followed behind Candace and Julian, making sure to not come between them. The boy seemed somewhat protective of Candace, and Evie didnโt want to intrude. โHopefully itโs something interesting! Iโd like to learn about my element without โbattlingโ other people.โ
Scarlett glanced at Maksim, slowing her pace slightly so he wouldnโt have to run. She turned to Maksim, watching as Jericho walked behind them. โI think Slenderman is in this class with us.โ She said, not expecting a response, but she turned back forward as they continue to the classroom.
Julian shrugged at the comment about batting, he didnโt mind it, but it did dredge up some bad memories heโd rather leave behind.ย โAs long as itโs not a snooze lecture like that magic history class, give me something to doโฆโ Having primarily taken courses geared toward electrical and robotics, he was more interested in hands-on learning. He tossed a look over his shoulder, to make sure Evie was still following them.ย โIt will be interesting, ya know, weโre all techincally fire elementals but that doesnโt mean we wonโt have unique aspects since weโre still different elements.โ
Abii trailed along towards the aether classroom, wondering how they exactly planned on handling all of the aether elements. While they all technically were the same family, it produced a much wider variety of probable elements unlike the earthly elements which had more subtle differences within the same family. It was a topic she was fairly interested in, and wondered at how the class would handle it, especially with the characters entering the classroom involved.
โI donโt knowโฆ isnโt it a little weird? Having students fighting each other? Isnโt that normally what most schools try to avoid? I meanโwhy teach us to fight anyway? What good is that going to do us in the real world?โ Candace asked, not so much to Julian or Evie, but to herself. As she thought deeper about it, the revelations began to frighten her, so she wrapped her arms around herself and bit her lip.ย โI wouldnโt mind a normal classโฆโ
Maksim, unsure what Slenderman meant, looked over his shoulder to see the tall boy dressed in black. He was little more than a walking shadow, or maybe a skeletonโhe was quite thin and pale.ย โZdrave, comrade!โ Maksim called to him, jerking Jericho out of his thoughts. He was waving the flier for his party in Jerichoโs direction. He looked like someone who could use some fun in his life.ย โYou know? You in?โ
Scarlett could not have slapped her palm to her forehead harder. โItโs this weekend..an Alien sighting party.โ Slendy didnโt seem like the type to be interested in that type of thing. โYour friend Wayland is going, and those two girls he was with.โ
Evie looked at Candace and frowned. She quickened her pace to keep up with the both of them. โDonโt be nervous before it even happens! It could be another lecture type class for all we know!โ She shrugged, and they finally entered the classroom, filing in behind the other students.
โMaybe it has less to do with fighting each other and more with gaining control over the element, and not the element controlling you. Ya know?โ Julian thought for a moment- you need control during a good fight especially if youโre not actually trying to seriously hurt someone. As they entered the classroom, it seemed to be mostly lecture based, but Julian still hoped for hands-on activities, to try and use his element more than just fighting.ย โSheโs right- doesnโt look like the class will be too physical.โ
Jericho managed to keep his face flat, although he felt his upper lip twitch towards a sneer. The massive Russian in front of him was hard to avoid, but Jericho was still slightly taller than him, and he had only to tilt his head slightly and look upward to successfully avoid eye contact and ignore them completely. He wasnโt interested in the party, but of course he couldnโt ignore it completely, not with Candace seemingly going.
Candace was happy to be in class with both Julian and Evie, but the thought of sitting next to Julian for the entire semester was a bit overwhelmingโher eyes looked up at her face, then traced down his figure, and sat down at the start of the middle row. She urged Evie to sit down next to her, leaving Julian to sit down next to Evie. It was close enough for comfort for her.ย โWhat could we end up doing? Be our own bunsen burner? Our own stovetop?โ She didnโt mean to pick a fight, and she tried to keep her voice soft, but her hopes were low. On-the-floor low. All Candace could imagine, could hope, was that the flames she could only partially control would entirely consume her before she could hurt anybody else.
Scarlett watched as Jericho ignored them and turned away. She turned on heel, grabbing Maksimโs arm and dragging him down the hallway. That was enough unnecessary conversation today. Out of everyone she had encountered, Slenderman was one she didnโt care to speak to. She entered the classroom, still gripping Maksimโs arm as she sat down near the front row.
Evie sat down next to Candace, moving her long hair behind the chair. She hoped this would be a sort of wizard magic class, like they did in Harry Potter. Wait, wasnโt this kind of like the Harry Potter movies anyways? Maybe theyโd get magic wands. She gazed up at the teacher in the front, who was writing the words โDay One: Fire Weaknesses and Controlling Fire.โ How interesting. Maybe this would be helpful after all. She couldnโt believe she was a wizard. โFire elementals probably have a lot of weaknesses.โ
Maksim started when he was suddenly being dragged away, and he was careful to hold onto his posterโthe only one in existence!โbefore it clicked that it was Scarlett dragging him away. Scarlett was holding onto his arm. This was enough to make him smile, and he was going to make a commentโuntil they turned into the classroom and she sat near the front. His face fell flat as he sat down next to her, realizing just how close the front board was to his face.ย โAh, an honour student you must be!โ Maksim forced out. There was but one word written on the board, and because he was so close, he could actually make it out. The problem was, he did not recognize the word, and hadnโt any idea how to pronounce it. Aether? What the hell was that?ย โAh-eh-terr?โ Maksim muttered under his breath, trying to sound it out.ย โAh-eh-zerr..?โ
โEy-ther.โ Scarlett responded, turning from Maksim to the white board. โThey organize the elements by different classes..weโre in Aether, because our elements donโt fit anywhere else.โ She turned back to face him. โNot an honorโs Student..but Iโm also not interested in interacting with a lot of these people.โ
โOh, but school is no fun if done alone?โ Maksim said, though his inflection made it sound like a question. โBut me, is right? You are okay to interact with me?โ He laughed a bit at himself.
Jericho walked in, past the two that had tried to talk to him about their party. In the backrow, as with any class, he found his seat. This was unlike any class he had taken beforeโsomething about bonding and cooperation that the other classes lacked led to the creation of this elemental class being created for this year. Although all of these students shared the Aether element with him, he couldnโt feel more distant from themโhe pointedly stared at the back of Maksimโs head. Perhaps this could work for the other elements, but this was nothing more than the Other group.
Scarlett opened her mouth to retort, but closed her lips instead, remaining stoic. It wasnโt that she enjoyed Maksimโs company in particular, but he was definitely someone safe to be around. He had no ulterior motives, something Scarlett couldnโt guarantee with a lot of the elementals in this classroom. She turned to Maksim again. โMissing your new friends already?โ She responded to his supposed question, if she was understanding right. Being alone was difficult and so was being separated.
Amber slipped into the classroom shortly before the class began, and stole the seat directly beside Jericho. She placed all of her things down, an unbearable amount of schoolbags and binders for a few hours of schooling, and turned right to Jericho. โSo, youโre the infamous Jericho Mesoin.โ She continued to stare at him. โStill hanging out for the next few years, I see.โ He wasnโt how she pictured. He didnโt quite look like a vampire, but didnโt look like Edward Cullen either. He was decent lookingโฆโฆdepending on who you asked.
Jericho shifted his eyes in the girlโs direction ever so slightly.ย โI donโt know you,โ He said plainly. It was easy to see that this girl was up to no goodโshe was too boisterous for his taste, and far too bold.ย โWhatever you want, Iโm not interested in talking. And whatever youโve heard is probably false. Satisfied?โ He was not used to popularity, as negative as it may be; where did his years of peace go?
โI like to make friends,โ Maksim nodded.ย โThere more people here than my whole village home! It was no fun for me. Must walk long distance to meet new people.โ He shook his head with a sigh.ย โHere, I like it better then home.โ While seemingly lost in thought, Maksim started to doodle more random things onto his poster.
โNot an attention seeker? Surprising.โ Amber replied, turning back to face the front of the classroom. โFrom the sounds of it, it seems like all you want is attention from the trouble youโve caused.โ
Scarlett glances at Maksimโs paper, not responding to him. She looked up at the board at a professor writing more on the Aether element, different things they would be learning and how this class would work. Attendance was mandatory. Assignments in on time. Scarlett sighed quietly under her breath. Could someone just take her element away so she could not deal with it?
Wayland heard the bell ring, and knew it was time for a class he wasnโt particularly looking forward to: Water Specialty.
โOh, but school is no fun if done alone?โ Maksim said, though his inflection made it sound like a question.ย โBut me, is right? You are okay to interact with me?โ He laughed a bit at himself.ย
Abii had recognized several of her classmates from other classes, although by face alone. She sat closer to the board- this class piqued her interest as she was primarily interested in her own psychic ability and how it came about, which maybe learning about the beginnings of aether elements overall might help. Looking over her classmates, it made her wonder all the more about how these elements came to be within them and how they were chosen, especially those within this class with the lesser known and less common oddity: aether elementals. A hodgepodge of varying elements that didnโt really belong in any of the other elemental families and really had one degree of similarity between them: their elements were not consideredย โnaturalโ, they were not planetary elements and instead appeared to be derived from outside of the planet. This topic interested her greatly, and how these students, who just by look alone, you couldnโt differ from those with more common planetary elements.
Julian always seemed to mess up when talking to Candace- he tried to be comforting but, in the end, it didnโt work, it just didnโt fit him no matter how hard he tried. He could understand the nerves of fear of oneโs elements- he definitely had enough reason to hate and fear himself and his element- but as time passed he suffered from a severe disconnect from the event and tried to separate himself from his element: it was something he could use, it was not something that would use him.ย โOutside of water, I canโt immediately think of fire weaknessesโฆโ He grumbled.ย โAnd, I wonder just exactly how different my own will be or if there is none for an electric user like myselfโฆโ He tried to think of himself as a fire user, but it seemed impossible- he just had to remind himselfit was like water and ice, the same element just condensed and formed differently.
โThe cold, and the darkโฆโ Candace said, a bit dazed and thinking of two individuals in particular. โI mean, maybe not really a weakness, but a hindrance. Iโm certainly not as strong in those conditions.โ She turned her eyes to Julian, and then slid to Evie beside her. โI mean, itโs obvious that your elements are closer, isnโt it? Light and Lightning!โ She gave a breathy laugh, though it left her a bit hollow at the recognition. โI wonder if Electric has any of the restorative powers that Light has? Like a battery? Oh, but maybe that sounds stupid!โ Candace cried, waving her hands. โSorry..โ
Evie gave Candace one of her infamous smiles and laughed slightly. โI donโt think my element even does anything.โ All it meant was that she couldnโt stay up late and she had a tougher time being around people with opposing elements. Being of light was not at all beneficial. โIโll be like your lightbulb.โ She said outloud to both Julian and Candace, and then laughed. She could feel the slightest bit of tension between them and immediately needed to break it. โThereโs not much else I can do besides that, anyways.โ
