It’s honestly embarrassing on Toei and Bandai’s part that they do barely the bare minimum to market PreCure outside of Japan, especially in the English-speaking world, where only a few seasons are legally available on streaming (two of which are only as localized edited dubs), that the anime isn’t properly marketed towards the main kid audience on proper channels/streaming sites or even with accessible dubs, and that most of the merchandise isn’t properly available to help make the franchise more marketable. Like, even as Glitter Force did fairly well on Netflix and put the franchise on the map for a younger audience, Saban treated it like shit and didn't even bother to license merchandise because of how girls' cartoons are generally treated regarding such.
Yet in spite of all that, PreCure still has a large enough reach outside of Japan that even professionals are being inspired by it for their own works, as seen with the new Superman cartoon. And hell, it’s even of a season (Go! Princess PreCure) that’s not even legally available in the US/Europe.
It speaks to how sexist Toei’s overseas marketing approach is, where they’ll spend on all the shonen titles they have at their disposal, but won’t even spare a cent for their titles aimed towards women. It’s PreCure’s 20th Anniversary and Toei’s English branches barely do anything to acknowledge it. Even Sailor Moon, which has already well established itself in the western anime community for decades now, barely gets any advertising on its new films that just recently came out.
