I’ve been thinking a lot about how the idea of “comfort” and “safety” come up when talking about spaces intending to be “radical” or anti-normative. I think a focus on comfort and safety often misses the point...similar to having conversations which are focused on being “good people” (e.i. using the right words, having the right political beliefs).

Discomfort is where learning happens. Discomfort is where change happens. I don’t want to always be comfortable...or uncomfortable for that matter. But I think it’s about finding a balance and not always aiming to make spaces comfortable or “safe”.... this needs more fleshing out....
