Abdul Rahim was a popular poet during Mughal emperor Akbar’s rule. He was of Turkish ancestry and was a popular writer and poet who worked for the royal families of the time. He has written doshas and translated Babar’s memoirs Baburnama from Chagatai to Persian in 1590 AD. He is one of the few who had an excellent command over Sanskrit during the time.
The tomb is in Nizamudin East, which is near Humayun’s Tomb. The tomb was built by him for his wife in 1598, he was also laid to rest in the same establishment when he passed away in 1627. It is said that marble and sandstone from this tomb was used to construct Safdarjung’s Tomb in 1753.
