Faceclaim is Jessica Lowndes
⪠~It has most certainly been quite a while now. Luca often strayed from those she knew of her kind, finding more comfort and freedom in their absence. It meant more of everything for her. Her nose wrinkled however, easily factoring in the familiar scent Everette presented with him. It wasnât intimidating; but then again, Lucania wasnât one to simply roll over â regardless of whether or not she ought to.
Amber eyes studied him, raking over every visible feature as they narrowed with suspicion and guarded curiosity. Her head tilted to one side, the corners of her mouth turned in a downward fashion. âI doubt you could be of much help, but itâs ind of you to offer.â A bit of ice came with the words, almost mocking the other. For lack of knowledge of his being, Luca was open to making remarks. It was something she did with everyone, regardless of rank and what-have-you.
Well, shiiiiiet. He mightâve been a simple boy, but he could sense bitchiness when it was there. He frowned a bit, and crossed his arms. âIâm sure I could be a lot more help than ye think, Maâam. Sides, I only ask cause yer lookinâ a bit lost.â In southern, that meant she was in his territoryâŚhe didnât realize how that might sound to another were till heâd said it. âI was jusâ bein a gentleman, aint you ever seen one before?â He asked, giving a bit of a shrug. He was sure they could get along if they duked it out with words first, maybe it would come to claws and fur but he had one problem. He couldnât, wouldnât, refused to hit a girl. Werewolf or not.
⪠~ Lucania took a step back at his words and she scoffed, frowning further. She wasn't lost. What did he know? Though, despite those thoughts, the female was in fact lost. Usually she didn't run off so blindly, but admittedly, Luca never kept a clear mind or level head. A gentleman he said, what century was he in? "There aren't any gentleman that I have ever encountered or been made aware of." She chuckled a bit, finding him of some amusement. They both may be weres, but whatever rules he went by it was unlikely for her to follow suit. Territory and ranks only meant anything if they were enforced; otherwise, she wasn't too worried.
The Boy Who Called Wolf
To be fair, had the wolf not intervened it was likely that his condition would actually be worse. Odds were the boy would be subjected to either injections or vivisection, neither of which were very appealing. But then he had other matters that were more important to think about at the moment.
Even so, he couldnât help but laugh at feeling that tongue swipe across his face. The child gave his friend an affectionate scratch between her ears before positioning himself to remove the offending metal object. It hadnât gone too deep at least, only about four inches. Strange, but he was more concerned with removing it.
Lac was as gentle as he could be as he stuck the tweezers inside the wound.
It was bloody, and it wasnât the easiest task, but soon enough the bullet was out and the boy was doing his best to stem the crimson flow with his sleeve. He could hear noise outside, people talking to one another and slamming doors open. Looking for them no doubt.
⪠~ Something caught between a low growl and a whine was given as the wound was addressed. Once the piece of metal was removed from her being however, she wasnât concerned. The wound would heal eventually, faster than most and it didnât bother her too much now that it had been relieved.
Sneezing, Lucania carefully made to put herself over the child and push him to the floor. The large lupine was careful in the act however as to not put her full weight on the boy. Her head rested just over his, nose nudging against his cheek in the process. Her ears had lowered, picking up the sounds of the advancing researchers. The way she had moved over Lac was more of a protective gesture than a playful one. She wasnât ready to give him up â not yet. Not to them.
A growl rumbled through the creature, gaze directed toward the door they had come in. She was anxious, anticipating the way they would burst through and find them. Vaguely the female wondered how they would react with their finding; would they draw guns again and open fire? How would the boy fare if she wasnât able to keep him? Lucania had to bite back the urge to shift and scream at all of them; but doing so would raise suspicion. Not to mention, she didnât have a spare pair of clothes with her to put on.
At first Lac didnât understand the meaning behind the approach. Being so suddenly forced to the ground caused a brief spike of fear, a primal instinct urging him to struggle against the wolf. But he didnât. She wasnât hurting him, wasnât directing that growl at him but rather the door. The boy couldnât blame her. Had the positions been switched he might have done the same.
When they finally burst in -and burst in they did- their guns were already drawn. Only the woman in point, however, seemed to be certain of her aim.
âRemember William, we need the brat alive,â one of the four men behind her growled. The robust red-head didnât even turn her head to look at him.
âI canât help it if he ends up being collateral damage; so just shut up and do your job.â With a slew of curses under his breath, he and the others filed into the room, surrounding the pair. Lac could feel his heart trying to beat its way through his chest, calm though he seemed. How would they get out of this one?
The sudden discharge of a gun nearly gave him a heart attack. Instead of hitting either of them however, it was a camera that took the bullet.
⪠~ Surprised, overwhelmed, edgy. Lucania's senses were in overdrive and what those people probably didn't understand, was the fact that she could, to some extent understand them. Then again, it's not like they would care. Clearly this boy was theirs for keeping; but the were couldn't just leave him to be locked away. This place was no home for a child, or any creature of being for that matter. Russet fur bristled and the wolf snarled, snapping her jaws in their direction.
It wasn't until one of the guns had fired that she silenced. Rather than either of them feeling any sort of pain however, a camera had taken the bullet. Confusion muddled in with everything she was feeling and instinctively Luca pressed her cold nose into the boy. A precaution of sorts to ensure he was fine.
He needed to direct her, before it was too late. she whined, hoping he would understand before the growling continued. Lucania didn't give or budge, though every part of her wanted to lunge forward and attack their enemies -- but doing so would leave Lac unattended.

Nowadays, with his new abilities, it was hard to avoid those who smelled or felt different than most people around him. Especially being as rare as it was.
Two of them were human at least, but held a bit of strangeness to them nonetheless. The taller blonde looked like she could kill with a look. The youngest looked unassuming but in this group he couldnât be sure.
The tall dark man, in the red coat..Well he felt just like her. Her being the first vampire heâd ever met, but stronger. It put him at uneaseâŚthinking he might be one of those, of which heâd never had a good experience since that time but he wasnât one to jump to conclusions.
And finally, the last oneâŚ
Well she was just like him. He could smell it. So fucking weird saying you could smell that the girl was a dog thing like him, but it was undeniable.Â
Being the gentleman he was, though, he greeted them all the same.
âNameâs Everette Labonte..Just call me Ev or Cal, even Boone if it pleases ya.â His accent was thick, but in a slow drawl that was so often seen as refined in comparison to itâs common counterpart. âNow uhâŚHow can I help yaâll?â A small smile lit his lips and he rubbed his palms together a bit nervously. He hardly went around this many people at once unless it was in a bar, now. He didnât know what heâd end up doing. He didnât know why they were there, but he didnât care. He wanted to at LEAST get to know the tall blonde and the wereâŚfor some reason, he felt maybe the two could be the most help to him.

The Boy Who Called Wolf
Riding on her back as such, he could practically feel her pain; and he couldnât abide by it. The moment they stopped he clambered off the animal and shuffled over to one of the nearest doors. She wouldnât like what was inside. He knew that.
But he had to get that bullet out while they still had time.
Twisting the handle, the boy motioned for the wolf to follow him inside. It was a room that looked like it was meant to be used for surgery. In a sense, perhaps, that was true. Lac didnât care to think about it at the moment.
Not caring for the blood trickling down his own shoulder, the five year old grabbed a scalpel and a pair of tweezers before moving to stand at his friendâs side.
âIs it alright ifâŚIf I take the bullet out?â He wouldnât do it if the creature didnât want him to. He hoped she would though.
⪠~ The creature shied away at first, ears quickly pinning back at the metallic objects in the boy hand. For a moment, the wolfâs instincts took over and a growl had started; but Lucania quieted and lowered herself to the floor. She kept still, as if submitting to the boy to prove she would let him do so.
Bright eyes were glued to Lacâs shoulder however, seeing as well as smelling the fact that he was wounded. Something similar to a whimper was given at such findings. He wouldnât be injured if she hadnât gotten involved. A heavy sigh was given, of either or perhaps both defeat as well as displeasure. She may as well remain still to let him remove the bullet while they still went unnoticed or found.
It still bothered her to some extent however, the predicament they were now in. Why did she act? What was so special about this boy â she didnât even know him. Lucania realized that if she had simply continued on her way, this probably would never had happened and neither of them would be wounded.
After a moment of consideration, the werewolf lifted her head and ran her tongue over the boyâs face. It was a gesture of thanks, though a wet one.
To be fair, had the wolf not intervened it was likely that his condition would actually be worse. Odds were the boy would be subjected to either injections or vivisection, neither of which were very appealing. But then he had other matters that were more important to think about at the moment.
