Dear fellow fitblrs
I have a confession to make. I'm a health hypocrite. I smoke cigarettes.Â
These past two weeks I have been feeling guilty because of this. I'm making so many changes in my lifestyle to become healthier, however, I hold onto my smoking habbits. I just smoked a cigarette and really hounded on this guilt the entire time I was smoking. Half way through I wanted to throw the cigarette out, but didn't. Perhaps I should have.
However, I did look in my pack and took note of the remain five and had the thought, "Perhaps these could be the last five." Just now, though, I thought why finish it? Just quit now. Put them somewhere and forget about them.Â
I just may try this.
On another note, my stomach feels funny. It feels full and empty at the same time. This is rather strange and started after I had my cigarette (which was had right after lunch).Â
Uhm… Doing this after class.

Usual keifer + frozen fruit smoothie (did so without honey or agave)

Carrot chips + about 3 tbsp of Athenos hummus.

2 cups of 16 bean soup
According to myfitnesspal.com this so far translates into 495 calories, 97g of carbs, 7 g of fat, 34 g of protein, 35 g of sugar, and 882 g of sodium.Â
Dinner 1 and 2 to come later. :) I'm really liking this small meal every 2-3 hours. I feel way more satisfied during the day. Plus, if I get any hunger pangs inbetween meals, shoving water down my throat fixes them. I wish thirst didn't translate in my brain as hunger. :/

A struggle here, a struggle there
Making my way into a healthier lifestyle is not hard. It's not. I'm just really lazy and find myself cutting all of the corners. Where's my self discipline? How can I get it back? Last summer I did amazingly until Winter hit, and then I let it all go. I've made amazing progression from my eating habits I had during the winter. However, I still have a far way to go. I had the time to exercise yesterday, but I filled it with just lazying around the house.
If I would have set my alarm this morning I could have done my stretches (assuming I got up when the alarm went off). The past few days I've only logged half of what I've ate (mixture of forgetfulness and not wanting to be honest with myself about what I ate). I don't understand how I can get so inspired to stick to clean eating and keep up exercising, but when it comes down to it, I make mistakes or lose inspiration and give in to poor habits? This is very frustrating.
I would like to point out that I have no plans to quit. I will keep forcing my brain into this lifestyle, if it's the last thing I do. I don't want to go through my entire life held back by obesity and poor life choices. I want to experience life fully, and do the things I want to do. I guess this is just a whiney/ranting post, if you will. I just needed to state my concerns and reflect on them in order to hopefully correct them. I guess I just have to keep pushing forward and leaving looking back for another day.

Get Your Best Legs
First know that you can’t reduce fat in just one place. Your body takes a little bit of fat from everywhere, more or less in some places due to your genetics. Doing a ton of leg exercises isn’t necessarily going to make all that fat disappear, at least not by itself. We do these exercises to shape and tone the muscles so your legs have a great shape. If you aren’t eating healthy and doing cardio those sexy muscles are going to be hidden no matter how many squats you do. Gaining muscle helps, it increases the metabolism thus burning more calories, but you have to work the rest of your body and have a clean diet too.
Try to do one video or pick five exercises and do 3 sets of 8-12 reps (or until you feel the burn) about 3-4 days a week. Do cardio 3-5 days a week too, it can be running, biking, swimming, Zumba, kickboxing, whatever gets your heart pounding and sweat dripping. You can combine strength workouts and cardio into the same day if you want. Make sure to eat protein after your workouts, it helps build muscle!
These are, in my opinion, the best thigh and leg exercises and videos. I’ve included links to instructions for most of the exercises and a variety that you can do at home or at the gym. If you workout at home try to get some 8-10 lbs dumbbells, or get a backpack/duffel bag and fill it with heavy books to challenge yourself.
If you have access to a gym try these machines & equipment:
the leg/hamstring curl machine
the leg press machine
the leg abductor/adductor machines
squats with a barbell and/or dumbbells
barbell deadliftsÂ
lunges with dumbbells
bulgarian split squat
If you don’t have access to a gym try these exercises at home:
wall squats
jump squats
bridge/hip lifts (try them with your feet on a chair/bed)
hip lifts on a balance ball (you’ll get an almost instant burn!)
leg lifts
inner thigh lifts
the fire hydrant
sumo squats
suicides
