(( so I had this BJ-centric/keinatsu idea punch me in the face earlier this week and couldn't write anything else until I got this out of my system. I teared up a lot throughout this, so please bring tissues. also, massive spoilers ahead ))

The first time he meets her, he almost doesn’t notice.

Another citizen of the space colony, another staff member for the so-called Project Ark he keeps encountering in the logs. Her name repeats in several recordings, then in his memory storage while waiting for downloads and system updates.

Who is she? he wonders, knowing he might never discover an answer—not in this lifetime.

He digs deeper, because what else is there to do while waiting for the world to end? The seclusion in the hanger stretches for hours, days, weeks, perhaps longer than he can calculate. All he knows is the comfortable silence is not that anymore.

At least he has these videos to distract himself with.

But what started as a means to combat boredom and loneliness morphs into a complicated web he can’t untangle. Maybe there’s an answer in the unspoken words and subtle expressions. Or maybe it’s all static and screen tears and various shades of blue pixels.

None of it makes sense until he sees him.
