God, sheâs going to be in so much trouble after this, isnât she? Sheâs so fucking screwed. And Futaba canât really blame anyone but her own hubris hereâ logically speaking, a person who can hardly swim should not hang around an underwater city, safe or not. Well, this just goes to show that she really shouldnât trust what they say around here...okay, not that she really did to begin with, but thatâs just common sense!
Murmured apology to Prometheus, sheâd summoned her persona to get a better reading on her surroundingsâ on the bright side, since sheâd hardly gone out in the water, she at least had a mostly full water bottle to her advantage. However, that still leaves her in quite a pickle: sheâs no fighter, persona isnât really made to fight ( or at least, sheâs never tried to apply him in that way ); so her current plan really just consists of trying to sneak around. Keyword is tryingâ itâs not even like, a cool enemy thatâs currently giving her a hard time, itâs just some eel thatâs trying to batter at his defensives. Sheâs trying to keep quiet on the off chance she might attract extra attention otherwise, but a startled yelp did manage to escape her the first time the battering sent her a bit off-kilter. And like, in theory, she could fight it, but what if itâs like a never-ending spawn enemy like in a game? She doesnât want to get stuck fighting eels! Itâs kinda pathetic, and if thatâs not bad enough, sheâs noticed a pretty strong energy spike pop up on her radar; steels herself for whatever else might be coming her way and comes face to face with... Oh good. This is just peachy. Nothing like being caught losing a fight to an eel. Seriously, why him, why nowâ
Oh, whoops. She mightâve vocalized more of that than she meant to. Cool, just going to add that to the number of things not going her way today. Sheâs going to take the fact that he currently canât really see her into account while she tries not to feel too mortified about this. âPassing through, Crow? Iâ uh, Iâd avoid going northeast if you can, thereâs definitely some weird activity signals over there.â Thatâs it, act like everythingâs normal here. Use codenames so you can distance yourself from the person attached to the name. Easy peasy.Â

He didnât expect to meet another hacker just like that. Most people he met in this place so far, didnât even have the knowledge about what a smartphone was. So a meeting like that really felt quite refreshing to him. Even if she was a kid, and no matter how much she would deny this part, to him she always would be one- but he must admit that the way she talked, she did seem very experienced in what she was doing as well. He better shouldnât take her lightly!
âVery well, Itâs a deal then, miss Futaba. Ah, I probably should introduce myself as well now, huh? The nameâs Sou HiyoriâŠâ No, he wonât share his age and favorite food like she just did! It was time to move to business now.Â
He waited for Futaba until she paid for the item they did fight for just a moment ago, and when she came back, he already suggested an idea. âHow about we grab a bite to talk about this? Itâll be my treat too, since youâre a kid. Ah, err⊠nothing as expensive as sushi though. I donât have that much money to spendâŠâ Also, his stomach couldnât handle fish, but that was a story for another dayâŠÂ
âDo you like ramenâŠ?â Soup was easy to digest, and easy to pay for two people too. Also a restaurant would give them a safer space than talk about stuff like that, compared to the store they were inside of in this moment.
For as bad as first impressions might be, itâs a little easier to open up when a commonality has been reached...and the fact that heâs taking her seriously helpsâ her ego, that is. Given that usually, her identity has to be concealed for people to take her as you know, a hacker, which is probably for the best given what that entails. Not everyone believes in a sixteen year old girl. Futaba can ignore the fact that sheâs still probably just a kid to him as long as he doesnât treat her like one all the time ( which really, is fair enough, itâs not like her own team isnât guilty of that much at times either ). Besides, she can prove that sheâs a little more than just a kid easily enough. Well, as soon as sheâs got a little more of her setup rebuilt: code like that isnât built in a day, not without flaws.
Name of stranger isnât entirely necessary, given that she was kind of just trying to get a little rise out of Sou; but she supposes if this is to become anything than a one time occurrence, itâd probably be useful to have that knowledgeâ although not averse to it, itâd be kinda awkward to just call him beanie guy or something. And if she ever needs to carry out that threat, she supposes itâd be useful to have a name to go off of. Presuming she can get into the government documents here. Regardless, introduction is acknowledged with a small nod, still preening over her victory. âPleasure doing business with you.â
( Of course, now that means she has to pay for it and...ough, people. Sheâd momentarily forgotten about the part of shopping that requires her to somewhat interact with people. Still, sheâs the one who fought for it, so sheâd better face the reality of her choices and accept that sheâs got work to do, even if thatâs a reluctant drag of her feet to move towards the check out counterâ she canât ask someone she hardly knows to accompany her over that, sheâd really seem like a child then! )
Drive is safely tucked away when she returns, demeanor perks up slightly at the mention of foodâ even if thereâs a slight scowl to comment of her age...though she doesnât do much more than grumble about it, considering sheâll probably need to keep an eye on her budget after this. Sheâs not looking to give him a hard time anways: a free meal is a free meal, after all ( even if somewhere in solitude, eating her usual cup noodles is a little more of her idea of a good mealâ so okay, maybe she could complain, but sheâs not that much of a brat, and sheâs in a good mood right now ). âRamenâs good enough for me!â Toothy grin, maybe sheâll be lucky and there wonât be too much of a crowd around this time.

Ah dear, dear. Curiosity had clearly been the forefront for someone so antsy of the waves to want go near them - but he didnât need to be a quick-on-his-feet Phantom Thief to see that there were so many regrets to that currently, given how obvious the huddled posture was. Still, to follow where oneâs heart took them, even if it led to something scaryâŠwell, that was still pretty admirable! Though, his attempted careful, âreassuringâ posture flickered for a moment as the other correctly mused Fondue was named after the âfoodâ - a genuine laugh of mirth that sounded as musical as the rhythm the Phantom followed slipped from his face. Ah, was it really that obvious? Yeah, probably - he couldnât help but laugh at how obvious it WAS though. âHe loves food so much it seemed a very fitting name, and he picked it himself.â Patting the white dog with a smile, he nodded to his companion to show it was okay to approach, before also nodding to the stranger. âOui, it is fine - hopefully it helps, mm?â Given the go-ahead by his master, the white dog sauntered forth and sat at the girlâs feet, tail slowly wagging. He didnât smell food, but pats were just as nice, and he was happy to patiently wait until she reached her hand down and gave him some.
Is it really something admirable? Has she done something worse praise? Ah, what might be considered admirable is also quite stupidâ foolish, all things considered for a supposed genius ( or maybe it is because you expect to be scolded that you fill the silence with the conclusions that you have reached; is it that actions are those not even worth commenting on? ) Maybe it is just pity, when she is clearly miserable enough with her situation, that no scolding has come; like a child has already learned their lesson from the consequence of their actions.
Nonetheless, head tilts at noise roused from stranger: a certain lilt, cadence feels soothing. âI think most animals are like that. Greedy little things.â For words that might seem a bit disgruntled, thereâs a certain fondness to it. Sheâs not certain how literally she should take âself-chosenâ ( but she canât help but think of Morgana, just a bit in the end, after all ). âAh, er, thanks. I...appreciate it?â Words are fumbled awkwardly, never really certain how to handle situations like this. Really, she thinks the combined effort of trying to keep socialization down to a minimum while she, uh, process this, has probably already helped with her recovery process. Probably. How much exactly this all will help is debatable.
( Besides, she canât really admit the only thingâ oneâ that might have helped her in a more immediate manner wasnât here... )
Hand reaches to scritch ears as eyes observe closely, figuring out what dog prefers most. âSo...uh, youâre French...?â Sheâs fairly certain that sheâs got that much right, at least; while she tries to get a little more confident footing in conversation.

The research centre that the psychologist had found his way to in search of key information and perhaps - paperwork like that he knew the lay of at home to wrap his head further around the kidnapping, find clues to a way back home - well, it certainly would have even put even his office to shame in just how much seemed to be packed in itâs small space. Most of the paperwork was shredded and in pieces, in too much damage to even try to put together - but some was perhaps, fixable! Yes, yes - that fit together there, and the other there: he grinned vivaciously to himself, but - couldnât get carried away and start laughing now. This place really didnât seem safe to linger, anything could jump out at you at any time! âŠWAIT WHO WAS THAT?! âWAAAAUUGH!!â
He jumped, not having expected or seen the stranger come close to him, gripping for his yo-yo on instinct - wait, itâŠ.wasnât a monster. It was a person. âŠCalm down, Sylvester. âP-please give a person warning before you sneak up on them like thatâŠ.but yes, I do believe these are very important pieces of information. They seem to haveâŠa picture of the island itself, but earlierâŠlike an earlier âstageâ of it? I havenât pieced all the bits that have writing together yetâŠif you could help, weâd have it done faster.â
Noticible flinch when other yells; girl curls in on herself, cannot help that much ( expression must be something disgruntled, orâ ). A moment of silence, shakily so, focuses on fiddling with glasses while recovering from her scare. âShhhh, someone could hear you!â Not so much a someone, but some unwanted attention here: and okay maybe shes a little at fault here, but itâs not like she was trying to sneak up on him! She just, didnât want to attract any unnecessary attention, which seems reasonable here, all things considered.
Which, is a point she is sure to make clear to stranger, âI wasnât trying to sneak up on you, jeez. Shouldnât you be paying more attention to your surroundings in a place like this?â She would like to think sheâs not entirely wrong on that front. A momentâs silence, as she thinks over otherâs wordsâ a picture? Like a map, or a more useful diagram of sorts? âHuh...is this really what we should be spending our time on?â Sure, thereâs some kind of writing so it must be somewhat relevant ( maybe, there are a multitude of reasons to explained ripped up papers ), but that also presumes that all of it is legible to themâ and even then, who is to say itâs not going to be a waste of time nonetheless? Reluctant shrug and sigh ( okay, not that reluctant ), sleeves roll up slightly. âBut fine, if you really think itâs worth it, I can help.â Itâs like a puzzle essentially, right? This should be easy peasy, hopefully.

     If anything, Akira is curious.
Itâs like the island from before, from when he was first here, where everything began in a sense. So more than likely, thereâs some answers that are bound to be found here. And heâs not about to let the chance for answers slip away from him. He needs them, for his own sake, and everyone elseâs as well.
So thatâs what leads him to running through the research center, phantom thief attire and all, a feeling of deja vu falling over him. He probably doesnât need this but honestly he feels more comfortable like this, and that Arsene is by his side if he needs him. Better safe than sorry after all.
He stops only to catch his breath, and to calm himself down a bit. He doesnât need to rush but at the same time he feels like he needs to. That something is going to go wrong if he doesnât. That itâll be like before with the island. He doesnât know why he feels like that, but he does for whatever reason.
âŠOr maybe itâs because things will go wrong, but not for the reasons he thinks.
He looks around from where he stands only for grey eyes to widen behind his mask at what he sees. Why is Futaba here, he can only think, considering what her abilities are as a thief. Akira doesnât know what to do, especially considering his appearance, but he canât just run from her soâŠ
So the only thing he can do is sigh, look at her and bite the bullet. âFutaba? Why are you hereâŠ?â Sheâll probably have a lot of questions for him but honestly, it wouldâve happened sooner or later he thinks.
She doesnât notice him at first.
Itâs not like this is the oddest, most creepiest place sheâs seen; though it takes a pretty strong effort to not freak out too much, but she reckons it canât be as bad as whatever else is out there...right? Itâs a little dark, given the state of this place, but not horribleâ she knows she could summon Prometheus and get a better read of this place, but she thinks it might be better to take her chances and save him for more desperate times. Slight shudder runs down her spine as she observes surroundings; she canât help but huff and grumble irritations...why does everything seem to be paperwork around here? She just wants to be able to do things the easy way and hack to find the stuff she needs to know about. Then again, maybe itâs for the best, an ominously glowing screen might add to the awful vibes in this place.
It is perhaps a belated realization, but: part of the prickling feeling comes from the realization that sheâs being watched, and when voice resounds, head snaps up to stare downâ
âJoker?â Of course she recognizes him, of courseâ as if Futaba would ever not recognize Phantom Thievesâ leader. After all, heâs...what? What else would he be...? Expression seems a little torn, like...sheâs not sure if she should get her hopes up, even if, despite herself ( and the situation ), sheâs relieved to see a warmly familiar face.
âWhat does it look like Iâm doing, jeezeâ I could ask the same of you.â But she wonât, because she can guess what heâs doing here, specifically; speaking of which. âTrying to do my job, obviously. Are you just going to stare, or are you going to give me a hand here?â Though brows furrow a bit as an afterthought, mulls over his question a little more. âOr did you just mean here relatively, in general? How long have you been here, anyways?â
her survivial chances are looking a little...rough. futaba still cannot swim, and she's not be an offensive fighter; but her desire to survive will trumph over her fears and sheâll have some use as a support role if you fight!! if you want to take your chances with her, go ahead and hit the like for a starter. iâll most likely hop into IMs for a little bit of plotting, and iâll cap this at 2!
@sheeporbeefâ âĄâd for a starter
Poking around this place...kinda gives her the creeps, if sheâs to be honest. Sure, sheâs arguably seen much more creepy things, and it isnât like she doesnât like a good horror game on occasion, but...this isnât a game. This is real life, and presumably, not all that far away from their living conditions as Futaba might like to imagine it is. Or maybe itâs the fact that, asides from the fact people clearly hadnât been here for a while, it appears fairly ordinary. Maybe itâs all the paperwork that reminds her of...?
Best not to linger on that thought too long.
She kind of wishes that she had more information about this place, but thereâs really not much she can do about that, hm? Thatâs how teen ended up here, because clearly nowhere screams âimportantâ like an abandoned building. But well, maybe she can get something out of it. Maybe. âSo...â Word is dragged out and drawled, a glance at nearby stranger. âAnything good in those paper scraps?â
@crimsonshoutsââ âĄâd for a starter
A shell research lab, hm? An area that doesnât particularly hold an interest to her ( what kind of name was conchology? Sounds fake, especially compared to some fancy science names ), though she admittedly canât help but peek her head into what is probably the closest she can get to exploring their surroundings without leaving the âsafetyâ of the city. Studying the shells seems kind of boring ( and redundant ), but of course, if theyâre dedicating an entire lab into it, there has to be something about it, right? She canât guess what secrets they must be hiding, but once sheâs focused in on something, thereâs little deterring her.
Especially with the temptation of restricted areas. Sure, they might be just, staff only zones or something like that, but it canât hurt to try and take a peek, right? Right. Analysis doesnât detect anything ( unfortunately ), but then again, that might also be, in part, due to the fact sheâs not actually paying too much attention. Voice that stops her is, surprisingly, not one of the staffâ though sheâs been taking care to sneak and avoid being caughtâ but some other citizen, instead. No fun!
âCâmon, donâtcha think thereâs anything strange about the area being cut off? I mean, itâs a research lab dedicated to studying shells and stuff, right? Whatâs the worst it could be? Some weird sea creatures?â

Oh, wow, wow! Wow! A library!
Zagiha was pleased as punch, which was rare. But he never passed up the opportunity to slink back to his natural habitat and bury himself in research, drinking in obscure factoids and theoretical concepts that sounded neat on paper but had little applicability to real life.Â
Learning was so fun!
Zagiha waltzed around the Saturninity Codex, picking out any book that piqued his interest (particularly on underwater law, which was a thing, and that delighted him). Skimming another title that looked neat, he reached for the book⊠grabbing it at the same time as somebody else.
His mood returned to curdled milk, and he scowled at the girl beside him. âDonât interfere with my research time, woman,â he snapped.
A library! Itâs usually far from her first stop in a new place, but given that sheâd like to stay as far away from the waterâs edge and the fact that she gets the feeling that the technology here isnât perhaps one she can tap into, if she wants to get any sense for the kind of place this is, she might have to settle for some books. Itâd be nicer if she had an idea of what to look for or...where to look for it, given how seemingly huge this place is, but she has to start somewhere. It looks like theyâll be stuck underwater for a while, anyways, so sheâs not in any particular rush, per say, though not particularly fond of sticking it out any longer than she needs to, but, well ( sacrifices have to be made sometimes, right? Sheâs not going to be useful if sheâs got no knowledge, thatâs how it goes )
Since she has no idea of where to start, picking one place and going from there would be goodâ skipping things like the sciences of this place seem acceptable for now, if only because that doesnât seem like an immediate concern. No, if past experience have taught her anything, things like how this place runs, the laws and systems of this city would be keen info to know...if at least for her own sake. Even if she thinks that might be a little moot, but itâs no tlike she can hack into government systems here if she gets into trouble ( probably ). Hand reaches for a book that seems interesting, whenâ
Demeanor is indignant towards the other, a scowl of her own crossing her face. âExcuse you, I saw it first.â Voice hisses, if only because this is a library and sheâs pretty sure that universally, itâs not acceptable to raise her voice and yell just because sheâs annoyed at a stranger. Arguably, annoyance is the only reason she doesnât shy away ( in other words: out of spite ). âYouâre supposed to be nice to girls, you know.â On the bright side, sheâs not being belittled for her age ( yet ) ?

( starter for @hermithiefâ )  Now - given heâd gone down to the waves and gotten some clues before, one might be forgiven for assuming the phantom was happy with just a few pictures: but the fact remained that while teaming-up was great and all, he and the other had still had to re-surface for air eventually- there just HAD to be more down there. If he wanted the people who lives in the city to make choices for themselves on seeing the truth, just a tiny bit of âtruthâ wouldnât be enough to convince them, oh no! He had to go back down, collect as much as he was able to: but it was also important to dry off his poor hat properly and not get sick by wearing it too! He didnât HAVE another hat, unlike his âin disguiseâ clothes which he had spares of and had already gotten once he got out of the water, and nothing would be gained by rushing recklessly, even now. Flipping his beloved hat around in his hands as he idly sat and waited for it to dry properly, he couldnât help but notice someone wasâŠ.huddled away as far as they could possibly go from the water in general. Goodness. Well, he couldnât very well go and ignore someone in such a state, so going back in once his hat dried off was sidelined for now, he patting his dog Fondue to reassure all would be well before casually strolling near the other. He didnât get right up close, because given how scared they seemed to be, even if he wanted to try and reassure - it was best to respect their personal space, and he especially didnât want to ask why the other was so frightened. It might be a personal thing. A thief such as himself still did have SOME degree of politeness! ââŠExcuse-moi. Would you like to pat Fondue, maybe, to help you take your mind off whatever has you so frazzled? Heâs happy to provide support, you know.â Yes, Fondue had a greed for food in general, but he was definitely still a good emotional support and reliable buddy when it came to being loyal and a goode boy. The dog in question hung by his master, as if waiting for the go-ahead by said master, though.
Curiosity gets the cat, as the saying goesâ and currently, the cat was a little wet and miserable about it. Perhaps itâs her own fault for curiously poking around the border-boundary that kept the city sealed off, but itâs not her fault it was so tempting. Wanting to know what kind of technology was at play here, thatâs only natural, right? She who cannot swim probably shouldâve probably exercised a little more caution; even the briefest brush with danger and death was more than enough to send her off scampering ( for now, at least ). Itâs not...exactly a new thing, per say, but it leaves her more than a little frazzled, but perhaps itâs just the fact that sheâs wet on top of everything else that really has her at a loss. Combined with an ever-present anxiety around people, she imagines she must look like a mess, huddled up all by herself. She buries her head in her knees...if she cannot see the situation, ignore the fact that she must be getting a few odd stares like this, thenâ
The sound of nearby footsteps forces her to raise her head, gaze warily watching stranger that approaches; as if she expects the worst to come ( and perhaps you do, in the end, cannot help it at a time like this ). Offer is not quite what she expects, serves as a good reminder she should not sulk...at least, not so obviously. Regardless, itâs not going to help her find any answers, yet...she canât shake off that scare quite so easily. Itâs a little pathetic, all things considered, but for nowâ eyes light up a little and reaches her arms out a little. âFondue? You mean, like the food...?â Okay, maybe thatâs not the most important thing to nitpick about, but itâs the first thing that comes to mind, give her a break! âEr, I mean...can I?â
event time, which means itâs time for a starter call! itâs not futaba if she isnât trying to poke her nose into things she probably shouldnât be, but she will probably be very much trying to avoid going out into the water for the most part. iâll cap this at 2, persona castmates exempt!

âHow unusual, so youâre actually familiar with hacking?â This was the first time he met another hacker, and she was a girl too. On top of that, also a kid. He didnât know her exact age, but it still was impressive nonetheless that she already knew about stuff like this. âAh-aha, paying double for it? Spending your whole allowance at once? Donât make your parents mad!â
Though Sou was no fool. Even if he preferred working all on his own, maybe âbefriendingâ another hacker would actually end up benefiting him in some way or another. You couldnât be too cautious in a situation like this after all, right? Thatâs why, he decided to stop teasing her for now and handed stepped aside.
âAlright, you can have it, under one condition though. How about you tell me more about yourself? Donât get the wrong idea, Iâm not interested in stuff like your favorite color or cartoon, I simply am curious about how a child like you already is interested in that kind of stuff. A talk from hacker to hacker, how about it?â
âWell, yeah, kind of why I need that.â Well, itâs less of a need and more of a want, but, same difference, really, at least as far as this situation goes. Still, if thereâs a hint of incredulousness to it, she takes it in stride; far be this the first or last time the fact that sheâs a hacker be a surprise to people ( she kind of relishes in it, honestly ). âAs if. Iâm not that much of a kid, so donât treat me like one!â A huffâ if she acts irritated, Futaba can ignore the ache that the mention of parents brings her. Itâll do her no good to lose face in front of him.
Of course, she can put together two and two on why someone like him would be after the same item she is; she maintains that it doesnât seem suited for a loser like him, butâ âHuh? Really?â Haha, score! She feels like she should get some bonus exp for succeeding like this: then again, flash drive is a pretty good reward in itself. But a price that isnât monetary...well, thatâs fine. âIf those are your terms, fine. After all, a fellow hacker should understand the risk of betraying each otherâs trust, right?â Even if sheâs got limited resources at the moment, the threat is still there.
A mischievous twinkle in her eyes, posture straightens a little. âFutaba Sakura. Iâm sixteen, my favorite food is sushi, and...â She canât help but want to troll a little bit ( revenge for teasing her, of course ), but only a little, given whatâs at stake here. âYou just wanted to know how I got interested in hacking and all that, right? I donât really have much to say about it, but I donât mind elaborating if you have questions. Just to make it a fair trade.â
internalresentingâ
The ignorance of innocence. Her age more than ever shows now, if even her inexperience she had with these kind of things if that was her followed logic. Shifting slightly back, taller figure would glance down as he gives her a questioning look. As if maybe, she should consider over words once more and try again.Â
At this point, it was more a question of how much he should ask. âYou do know you could return it after, right?â If she got the wrong one, that is. But, if she insists on this point heâll give a few more ideas. Come this time, he just wanted to see this issue through. âArenât there little ratings here?â A point to look closer, and maybe notice details. âWhile I canât say theyâre entirely truthful, isnât it important to listen to others?â
One might say that sheâs a little spoiled, almost, used to not having to worry about things like budgeting her own moneyâ or just particularly stubborn on sticking to certain things almost unreasonably. Almost. Well, to her, at least; though the questioning look that she gets receives an aversion of her gaze in turn, arms crossed as she closes up almost uncomfortably.
âW-Well, yeah, but...â But that means having to interact with people. Most people arenât that averse to dealing with other people, she knows, so that would probably sound like a weak excuse, so she does nothing other than stay silent when he resumes speaking. A sensible person might just accept that and move on, but sheâs not entirely in a sensible mood at the moment. That said, sheâs also...not exactly inclined to further inconvenience this stranger ( even if his advice might be, somewhat unasked for? ) and test his patience, so she might have to concede to his point. Itâs her own fault for not trying to prepare better in advance, and if she has to return it, then thatâs her loss: in money, that is, it might be too much to ask for her to actually go through customer service. âYeah, I guess...I just donât want to mess up such a silly thing.â Words are mumbled as she reaches for the package, maybe she can make a hasty retreat and go hide in her room and never have to think about this again. âThanks.â

âheâs nice, sure, but donât say i didnât warn you.â is keith final thought on the whole thing. perhaps harsh to some, all things considered, but heâs not one to dole out warnings more than onceâa stemming from a dislike of repeating himself. though he doubts kosmo would bite at anyone that shows affection instead of violence. keith just doesnât like to definitely say either way since kosmo is barely even considered a pet for he actually does listen to most commands. he keeps a close eye on the interaction regardless though makes no move to intervene since both parties seem to be enjoying themselves. âhis name is kosmo. in case you wanted to know.â
He wouldâve worried over you in this situation, warned you like this too, right? A sarcastic remark lingers on her tongue out of habit, bitten back at the last momentâ a certain casualness she shouldnât regard a stranger with, for her own sake. âRight, warned!â Is what she chooses to respond with instead, as if analyst wouldnât notice if there was a change in demeanor! Well, okay, sheâs not perfect and certainly not infallible, but thatâs beside the point. Sheâll be careful, jeez mom.
( And okay, maybe some part of it is the fact that she knows that sheâs being watched means that, despite feeling a bit self-conscious, she can act with some ease )
âKosmo?â She repeats, a tinge of thoughtfulness ( and curiosity ) to her voice, one of her hands have moved to scratch under chin. âAs in, like the cosmos? Neat. SoundsâŠethereal. Sorry I donât got any treats for you, bud.â Head lifts slightly to stare at other. âAnd you are...?â And no regards for introducing herself first.

She didnât like being out of the apartment any more than necessary, but she supposes if sheâs going to make a begrudging compromise, sheâll at least pick a place where it was common courtesy to keep to oneself and keep noises to a minimum. She doesnât have quite as much as she usually does to occupy her attention, nor does she have Sojiroâs sympathy ( and wallet ) to enable her into buying things on whim. Sure, a hacker like her definitely knows where to find just about anything online, but thereâs something about having it physically in her hands that made it hard for her to find herself satisfied with having things digitally, for once.
Reading wasnât a habit she took up often, if only because sometimes it got so boring and sometimes hard to hold her attention, and besidesâ when you can remember every little detail, thereâs only so much joy rereading ( reexperiencing things in general ) can bring you. Sure, her choice in reading might be a little childish, arguably, but she doesnât really care about things like that ( maybe ).
Which brings her to her current circumstances. Sure, an easier solution would probably be to settle for finding something else to read, but, well, what can she say. Title had caught her attention as worth reading and itâs just gone downhill from there, given that she canât reach it. Sheâs sure thereâs gotta be some kind of ladder around...a stepstool of some sort, maybe, if she looked around now, but maybe itâd be quicker to climb up the bookcase...? Or, uh, maybe she could make some kind of step for herself with the books? Voice from behind her speaks up, and she jolts, posture straightening stiffly as she glances up towards stranger. âH-Huh? I, er...â Gaze flickers between person and bookshelf for a brief moment, nervously. She could ask for help, butâ âIâm still making up my mind. Hahaha, yep! Iâm just fine here.â
achronismâ
âExcuse me, tiny human!â Itâs ironic that she of all trolls should call anyone else âtinyâ but given that she means âyearsâ and not âheightâ she deems it perfectly acceptable. Though her God Tier is currently gone (and with it her wings) sheâs still more than perfectly capable of using her psionics to float around as she pleases. Dropping from her previous perch on a treeâs highest branches, she stops somewhat lopsidedly a few feet above the ground, waving enthusiastically. âHi! I am sorry to interrupt your very hurried journey but! I have been trying very hard to attempt to ascertain our location with relation to⊠uhhhâŠâ A pause, eyes casting upward as she remembers the continentâ      âNorth America? I think that is the one.â This wasnât the other Earth, that was for certain; too few Carapaces. So she had to assume that by some machination of the universe she was somehow back on the âOriginalâ Earth. Or a close enough approximation. âIf you know, that is.âÂ
Hungryâ sheâs going to be starving if she doesnât buy more food soon. And by food, she means, snacks and instant ramen, of course. All right, starving might be a bit of an exaggeration, but itâs her super important quest for the day, so sheâs eager to get it done and over with so she can go back home. Voice from somewhere above goes ignored by her: tiny? That must probably mean a child, right? Right. Nothing to do with her, or so she thinks until, er, person drops down before her ( okay, person might be a bit of stretch here, but she really doesnât have a better term, so... ); hesitantly taking a step backwards, eying other suspiciously. Is this the standard for normal around here? Maybe this is supposed to be a sign that she really needs to get out of the house more...
A pause as hand reaches up to fiddle with the rim of her glasses, almost as if she maybe doesnât believe what sheâs seeing in front of her ( okay, so maybe she has a few theories going in her hand to explain...everything ). Question is one that Futaba can at least partially answer with somewhat relative ease, thankfully, given the fact that sheâs less knowledgeable about their place of residence than sheâd like to be. âEr, I mean...this is Japan, right? Thereâs, uhm, an entire ocean between them, if that helps put it in perspective. Like, ten thousand kilometers, give or take.â Admittedly, she canât help but wonder why sheâs asking about why America of all places, but sheâs not curious enough to inquire...probably.
