“How do you be happy, Bella?”

“I keep it to myself. And I didn’t realize we were on first name terms, Fortescue.”

“I might have something… Causing havoc in the hallways like usual. You up for that?”

“Yes, I am. Sounds lovely.”

“What? You find happiness intolerable?”

“I find incessant lovestruck excitement intolerable. There are ways to be happy without being obnoxious about it; most of the school just seems to be incapable of finding them.”

“I wouldn’t call them intolerable, just excited. Or happy. Or sometimes love struck.”

“I find that intolerable.”

   “And your not going to be one of them? I though maybe you had eyes for a certain boy but I must have been mistaken.”

“No, I will most certainly not be.” Bella narrowed her eyes. “What boy are you referring to, exactly?”

There’s always th- the option of not going. It’s what I’m- I’m thinking about doing.

Oh, believe me, that is exactly what I plan on doing.

“Aww, come on sister. It will be fun if people don’t ruin it. We can dress up like we use to as children. Like when mother put us in the prettiest dresses she could buy.”

“Believe me, someone will find a way to ruin it. That sounds much more fun than the dance itself.”

“Oh Bella, you always know how to ruin the mood.”

“I don’t particularly care what you think.”

*Mutters* Spoilsport. 

What did you just say?

“It could if it forced all of us to attend it. Which it’ not doing, luckily. Wanna plan something more interesting for that night though?”

“Absolutely. Did you have anything in mind, or a vague idea only?”

     ”Oh come on Bella it’s not going to be that bad. I mean firewhiskey and pretty dresses. Sounds just like your type of fun.”

“It would be, if not for all of the lusty teenagers making eyes at each other all night.”

“Believe me, Evans, if my admirers are heading your way, it won’t be with candy.”

“Irritated because dances are pointless and stupid and, worst of all, you’re here. Shouldn’t you be off somewhere with my dear traitor cousin?”

“You attend enough Valentine’s Day dances? Wow I didn’t know people held them all the time….I’m sorry, that was a bad joke.”

“Yes, it was. Do not do it again.”

“No need to be rude about it. If you really don’t like the idea then you don’t have to attend.”

“Oh, believe me, I won’t.”
