Asami whirled around from the mirror to face the girl sitting on her bed. She was right to worry; three years had past, and her friend only looked worse for wear, as though she didn’t fit quite in with her surroundings.

"It’s like they don’t need me anymore. They’re managing so..so perfectly on their own that I don’t know what to do."

And just like that, out the truth came. Spirits it was so much easier saying things to Asami instead of Mako or Bolin, or even Tenzin at this point.

At this point the heartbreak was evident on Asami's face, though she tried to maintain a positive expression. Korra didn't deserve to feel this way; had they done something wrong? Should they have gone about her absence differently? She quickly abandoned her spot at the mirror in favor of sitting down next to Korra, a gentle hand on her shoulder.
