I have really enjoyed all the different Ramshackle AU’s I’ve been seeing. I think they are amazing and kinda a fandoms right of passage to have at least a few AU’s.
(( I’m talking about the swap AU and the monster AU, I love em so much))
I think I’ve seen this au done before or maybe I’m just mis-remembering.
But hear me out on a circus AU or it can even be a quick story arc for just the trio.
Like they join the traveling circus that comes through town every year in hopes of getting more money. They heard from a rumor that they can even get a little more money than the average worker in Ramshackle. So they join or sign up.
Or literally just run away to the circus.
So Skipp can take the place of your average clown entertainer, or he can even qualify as a contortionist too because… I mean we all watched the pilot he can do the maggot.
Or Skipp can be a clown who has a little side act of being weirdly flexible. Idk I also feel like Skipp can juggle things so I’m just keeping him a clown. Skipp doesn’t enjoy the ruffles on his costume, he thinks it’s really itchy but he enjoys playing around with the costume makeup a lot. But sometimes makeup can feel like a hassle so Skipp also has a little collection of masks to wear while preforming.
Skipp is also guilty of leaning into his more mischievous nature and plays many pranks on Stone and Vinnie throughout the day. Skipp also on several occasions found where the circus animals were being held and proceeded to unlock as many cages as he could because he feels very bad for all the animals.
Vinnie was the genius who came up with joining the circus in the first place. She didn’t know what she was getting herself into until it became a mess.
Our girl Vinnie can also kinda fit into two roles. Either the strong man, or in her case strong woman or the daredevil.
She would enjoy both for sure, and probably not think about the risk factor. I believe my girl Vinnie can pull off a few strong man acts, I believe she has above average strength. At the same time Vinnie would never pass up the opportunity to ride a motorcycle through a ring set on fire.
At the end of her performances she is shocked to still be alive sometimes too. But Vinnie has gotten herself in a few accidents during rehearsal, after all she isn’t invincible. Skipp and Stone can sit through a little bit of her performance but once highs and motorcycles and everything gets set on fire that is their cue to leave. It’s not like they don’t care, in fact they care too much that Vinnie is going to overestimate her abilities one day and get herself really hurt.
I also like to imagine Vinnie has significantly shorter hair in this au. Because on the first day she was trying out a stunt and set her hair on fire and fried most of it off.
I was going back and forth with Stone for a bit.
At first I thought maybe a tightrope walker, where the only way he can do it is by zoning out. But then Stone is too drunk to have stable balance and I doubt he would go for a large act like that.
So yes Stone also kinda fell in between two roles/ acts? I like having options okay. So he wouldn’t be a main act you could find in the big top, more like a side act you find before and after the show.
I like the idea of him being a sort of fortune teller. But he is just a fraud and he is just good at predicting things. Like he can use probability to sort something out when a person asks about their future and what can most likely occur. Stone would also just have to just sit and say something with decent confidence and just look cool, and people most of the time believe him.
The second idea is that Stone had a little side act as an animal trainer. He wouldn’t work with any of the larger animals like the elephants or tigers no, he works with a bunch of dogs and cats he has trained. Dogs and most cats actually listen to Stone because he has more patience with animals than he does with humans. And the animals love Stone and listen to him pretty well. Stone will teach the dogs how to jump and flip and cats how to jump through rings and how to balance.
I feel like Stone would love it, and whenever he is strolling around the grounds there is a little army of dogs and cats following closely behind.
This was purely self indulgent because I’ve been thinking about this idea for a week or so and wanted to write it down.
If the trio did run away to the circus entirely when they eventually travel back to Ramshackle once a year it’s like they haunt the town with their presence.
But they don’t have to run away, this idea could just be a quick one off comic arc for fun.
