Jude and Carden are laying in bed, it’s that time between sleep and wake. Where the world isn’t quite real. Eyes flutter open and quickly shut. Hands are tracing patterns they’ll try to remember later.
Carden holds Jude against his chest, the one that feels like it’s cracking open, he can’t believe this is his. This moment with Jude, the happiness he feels, the beauty of this quiet moment. He traces her ear, and begins a trail that goes down the side of her neck, around her shoulder, continues down her arm, grazes over her chest to find the place he’s embarrassed to want to feel. Slowly he coms to her stomach and whispers to Jude’s barely awoken mind, “do you think our offspring will look more like the fae or similar to the ghost? I’d rather enjoy one having a tail. And one could have your ears.”
Jude shivers, they’ve talked about not having kids, he knows she’s on the mortal contraption to deter the very thing. But she loves the idea of his kids. Still drowsy from sleepy she doesn’t speak but roams her hands up cardans body.
His hands roam more hungrily and he begins to kiss her head, forehead, ear, neck, and then mouth. It’s a soft kiss full of love before he roams his way down her body leaving a trail of kisses. “We are heirless now and I can only determine one way to remedy the situation”, he says as his mouth gets close and closer to her bundle of nerves that are throbbing with anticipation.
His mouth wraps around her and she gasps out “this is not how babies are made”, with a light laugh. His eyes heat as he looks up at her, he slides a finger into her molten core and says “first you need to cease that mortal substance” as he pumps his finger into her and nips her bundle. “Second”, as he slides a second finger inside, “I know how to but I will never sate of you and our heir would be a the grandest consultation prize of these moments where we’ve become one.” He holds Jude’s gaze, she’s always a little stunned when he speaks to her like she is the entirety of his world. Her heart so swollen that she reaches for his face to pull his mouth to hers. She needs him now. She whispers, “I hope they have a tail too”, as he slides home. It’s a slow, lazy morning love making that leaves them both breathless and glowing.
There’s a lock at the door letting them know servants will be in soon to get them ready for the day. Cardan reaches across Jude and pops the rest of her birth control pills out and swallows them. She looks aghast but he just shrugs, “we shall be unfertile together for now.” She laughs, “that’s not how that works.”
“How ever they have concocted this potion it must work for both male and female mortals, I don’t see why it shouldn’t have a small affect on me.”
“Were going to do this then?”
“Yes, my dearest Jude, this will be an adventure we will face together.” The next knock is upon them, a warning before the door opens. The lay there smiling at eachouther as the servants start the preparations to get them ready for the night. All through their meetings and reval, there is a glint in their eyes and they’re caught looking at eachother and smiling more frequently than normal. There’s something magical growing between them like the land knows. It’s their secret for now, something just theirs. Until they have to tell the others but the magnitude of the moment is a warm embrace that has the very last of their armor falling away.
