This chapter marks Laverna’s first point of view chapter. We catch up with her and her new life as a pirate, sailing to the island of Stros M’kai. She seems happy on the surface, yet the trauma of the events of Act One still lingers in her mind.

This chapter references Jasmine from the Morrowind companion mod Jasmine, and Shani from the Julan the Ashlander companion mod. I won’t be giving Jasmine or Julan direct roles in this story, since they already have rich backstories and are so thoroughly developed by their creators that I couldn’t do them justice. Shani, however, had enough left open to interpretation that I felt comfortable expanding on her, which I’ll do in later chapters.

This chapter begins Act II of the story. While Act I focused on Azarath and the events that led to his imprisonment in the Imperial City and his subsequent journey to Vvardenfell to fulfill the Nerevarine prophecy, Act II shifts focus to Bellona.

It explores the events that eventually land her in the Imperial City Prison at the start of Oblivion, setting her on the path to become the Hero of Kvatch. This act also shows what leads Azarath to disappear on a journey to Akavir after completing the Nerevarine prophecy. In my personal canon, different characters tackle different questlines, rather than one person doing everything. Bellona handles the Imperial Legion questline in Morrowind.

This chapter expands on that questline, which is one of the less developed guild storylines in the game, particularly the Talos Cult conspiracy, which I felt had the potential for a larger plot. While I reference in-game events, the focus is on what happens to these characters between the games, rather than retelling everything from the games.

The majority of this chapter centers on Bellona’s growing disillusionment with the Legion following the events of the Imperial Legion questline in Morrowind. There are still several years of character development before she is ready to return to Cyrodiil and become the Hero of Kvatch. I will also explain why her skills are reset to zero at the beginning of Oblivion, forcing her to start from scratch, just as I did with Azarath in Act I.

Chapter 11: Rebirth

Summary:

Azarath's first week in the Imperial City prison is haunted by the whispers of Azura and the weight of his own shame. Over the course of a year, he is forced to confront his past and decide what kind of man he wants to be while witnessing the brutal corruption of the prison system. When he is suddenly shackled and shipped to the alien shores of Vvardenfell, he expects a homecoming to the land of his ancestors. Instead, he finds a world that looks like his dreams but treats him as a total stranger. Now an "outlander" with nothing to his name, Azarath faces a choice that will set the tone for his new life in Morrowind. This chapter is the end of act one and Azarath's origin story before the events of Morrowind, ending with the iconic opening of Morrowind. Act 2 will focus on Bellona's journey to becoming Hero of Kvatch before the events of Oblivion. She still has six years of character development till then and does the Imperial Legion questline in Morrowind while Azarath does the main quest, thieves guild, mages guild, morag tong and house hlaalu. A few iconic Oblivion characters make cameos in this chapter, and these events take place 6-7 years before the events of Oblivion.

Driven by the weight of his past and a desperate hope for a second chance, Azarath journeys into the depths of Bthan-Zund to find a power that can rewrite history. However, the ancient ruins hold more than just machinery, and the price of undoing a mistake may be higher than he ever imagined. Face-to-face with the consequences of his choices and the people he has hurt, Azarath must decide if he will continue to flee from his shadow or finally accept his fate.

The next chapter after this will be the conclusion of Act 1 and the end of Azarath's origin story leading up to the beginning of Morrowind and his destiny as the Nerevarine. I'm not going to retell events of the games, only what happens to these characters before and in between. Act II will focus on the events that lead to Bellona's destiny as the Hero of Kvatch. We still have at least six years before the events of Oblivion for her character development. Right now we are no more than a year before the events of Morrowind. Act II will also focus on Azarath's life post becoming the Nerevarine.

Dragonborn Begins: The Ballad of Bjorn the Swordsmith

(An unofficial Skyrim Prequel)

This story follows Bjorn, a young Dragonborn raised in Hammerfell by parents who are Thalmor fugitives. Trained as a swordsmith, his peaceful life shatters, forcing him into a life of conflict and survival.

What begins as a standard coming-of-age story quickly grows darker, exploring vengeance, confronting inner demons, and past trauma. This is not a typical tale of good vs. evil; it's a deep dive into moral ambiguity and the impossible choices that blur the lines between right and wrong.

Character Lore & Details:

Bjorn is my canon LDB, handling the Main Quest, Dawnguard, Dragonborn DLC, Companions, and Civil War.

The story features cameos from Cordelia (my College of Winterhold character) and Hela (my Dark Brotherhood character).

I've always believed splitting questlines between different characters makes for stronger, more realistic arcs.

(Sadly, my Thieves Guild character, Ervador, didn't make the cut this time, maybe in a sequel!)
