When the death toll for Gaza goes up from disease, Israel will claim deniability, that those deaths were not deliberate and calculated. You see it with how settlers will talk about the genocide of Natives, that most of us "just died from disease then colonizers 'accidentally spread'". It is NEVER an accident. Famines and Diseases and always used as tool for genocide by colonizers
How the NYPD defeated bodycams
Anything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. When American patience for racial profiling in traffic stops reached a breaking point, cops rolled out dashcams. Dashcam footage went AWOL, or just recorded lots of racist, pretextual stops. Racial profiling continued.
Tasers and pepper spray were supposed to curb the undue use of force by giving cops an alternative to shooting dangerous-seeming people. Instead, we got cops who tasered and sprayed unarmed people and then shot them to pieces.
Next came bodycams: by indelibly recording cops' interactions with the public, body-worn cameras were pitched as a way to bring accountability to American law-enforcement. Finally, police leadership would be able to sort officers' claims from eyewitness accounts and figure out who was lying. Bad cops could be disciplined. Repeat offenders could be fired.
Police boosters insist that police violence and corruption are the result of "a few bad apples." As the saying goes, "a few bad apples spoil the bushel." If you think there are just a few bad cops on the force, then you should want to get rid of them before they wreck the whole institution. Bodycams could empirically identify the bad apples, right?
Well, hypothetically. But what if police leadership don't want to get rid of the bad apples? What if the reason that dashcams, tasers, and pepper spray failed is that police leadership are fine with them? If that were the case, then bodycams would turn into just another expensive prop for an off-Broadway accountability theater.
What if?

They don't count starvation victims as part of the death count, correct?
Or disease victims?

tl;dr: the numbers we're seeing are only the people dying at the hands of Israeli weapons. Starvation, disease, injury, etc. are not counted — but are rapidly racking up death tolls that may outrival the mass devastation we're seeing already.
Gaza has a large disabled population. Wissam is just one of tens of thousands, who need medication and care, facing the devastating choice of being slaughtered at home or out on the streets. All districts in Gaza but one have been declared combat zones.
A little girl died from hunger in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, despite being in the area where aid trucks are distributed. Another family in the north in Gaza city was forced to eat a donkey, which for many in Palestine is inconceivable culturally. Bisan says there isn't even water (clean OR dirty) for them to drink or wash with.
will never forget the parents who lost all 8 of their kids saying "they slept hungry, we were trying to get them a piece of bread but they were killed"
we are witnessing a population run out of food. WFP said a few days ago that half of the population are starving, nine out of 10 are not eating every day.
keep in mind that not having enough food, even when you're not literally starving to death, makes your body heal slower so all these people (who have all sorts of wounds from the bombing and everything else) are all physically healing much more slowly than they would be if they had any food to eat. it also causes you to have difficulty regulating body temperature which means that these people (who had to leave their homes with no winter clothes to speak of) are much more susceptible to the cold than they would be if they just had food.
the current problems every gazan is facing right now all exacerbate each other.
I fear I've been putting too much thought into the genocidal country, and not enough passion into Palestine. It is not enough to hate the oppressor, literally anyone can: it's about loving freedom and loving liberation. It's like when we say you have to love Black people more than you hate the cops, love indigenous people more than you hate America, and love Jewish people more than you hate nazis. The lives of the marginalized are so much more than the lives of the people that hate them, you feel?

Ka’ak and Ma’mol are Palestinian cookies stuffed with date paste or nuts, and are served with tea or coffee. The cookies are popular at Eid, Christmas and other holidays. [Abdelhakim Abu Riash/Al Jazeera]
Here is an article talking about both:
The ritual of making, eating, and distributing ka'ak and ma'amoul are symbols of continuity and community across a wide swath of the Middle
and one that features a recipe:
My grandmothers often prepared the cookies. The cookies are usually made a few days before Easter, then stored in aluminum tins to be served
ID: Leaf and flower shaped cookies in an open cookie jar with decorative lid. End ID.
The actual quote almost hits worse because it's more of that "any Palestinian violence justifies any 'israeli' violence, but any and all 'israeli' violence will never justify Palestinian violence" bullshit
very often i think about how little israelis care for or respect palestinian steadfastness. in their haste to make them an enemy and blinded by colonial existential fear, they were robbed of the ability to recognize palestinian honor, palestinian dignity, palestinian generosity. they are totally incapable of acknowledging that palestinians have a very just and moving cause, one that moves hearts across the world to stand with them.
it upsets me on a visceral level that israelis will see a palestinian teenager stand up with their full chest to a soldier as a terrorist, and not as one of the bravest individuals on the planet, carrying a homeland on their shoulders and standing tall.
Getting tired of seeing big posts that are basically like "look there are gay Palestinians too that's why you should support them!" like how about we support them because they're facing a genocide how about that?
Like a group of people should not have to prove how similar they are to you in order for you to give a shit about them literally being massacred

"Today marks one year since the death of the People’s Bubbie Shatzi Weisberger. Before she passed, she said, “I’ll fight like hell for a free Palestine until the day I die. Then I’ll keep fighting. Your queer ancestor is with you.”
If you’ve been rising up in solidarity with Palestine these past two months, your queer ancestor is indeed with you, along with countless other antizionist Jewish ancestors. For many, family and community rifts may be especially painful right now. No matter what, you are not alone. Remember that you have a long lineage of elders and ancestors at your back.
Last night, Israel resumed its brutal bombing of Gaza and has already killed dozens of people. Shatzi would encourage all of us to do everything we can right now for a permanent, lasting ceasefire. To mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living.
Shatzi died on World AIDS Day, which was b’sheret ("destined”) because in addition to being a lifelong organizer, she was a nurse for 47 years who cared for people living and dying with AIDS.
From ACT UP’s organizing to end AIDS to the movement for Palestinian freedom, we honor the ancestors and movements who made us possible."
We will be forever grateful to the ancestors who paved the path before us. May their memories fuel us to work towards freedom for all people — no exceptions."
