Home town show. One thing seems clear from a lot of the photos I've seen of this tour: Marisa seems to be having a lot of fun doing it.

The Tram Of Boon
Brand new day
The thought o’ you here’s to stay
I get so free I don’t carry pain with me
I work in samba ‘bout that I can’t complain
I go on singin’ just to touch you and play
Ev’ry day
I think about marryin’ you
And like a busker rhyme my and your “I do”
Get ahead in life in the altar by your side
I go on playin’ just to sing for you
The Tram of Boon’s taking me
Angels carrying me away
Around the cars passing by
Saints teach me how to fly
On the wings of the good from this world
Deep down lies our backyard
The sea of the water drinks me
The thirst of thee’ll proceed
The thirst of thee…
Really interesting translation...
Positive review from All About Jazz, although not entirely accurate in the details (says the fannish pedant).

With good reason, Brazilian singer-songwriter Marisa Monte sold out the Beacon Theatre last night. See more pictures.
And see her there again tomorrow night.

Marisa in New York.
No dia que você vai ao seu museu preferido, MoMA, e encontra no elevador a simples e simpática Marisa Monte. :P
Isso só acontece mesmo em Nova York.

I am still sorting things our from my trip to New York to see Marisa's shows. I did many things while I was there, but they did NOT include running into her at MoMA.
Dammit.
SONG OF THE DAY: Marisa Monte "Infinito Particular"
Here’s one for the warm nights: a jazzy, slightly spooky number from beloved Brazilian singer Marisa Monte. Put it on and watch your cares slip away as a subtle magic takes hold. We’re looking forward to soaking in that magic next week when Monte sambas into town for two shows.

What you really want to know about Marisa Monte
Interview full of interesting tidbits
"The idea that I had in the beginning was to have visual arts side by side with the music. This is a dialogue I have been working with for many years. I have invited artists to direct my concerts, also album covers. So in this concert I wanted to have a bigger panorama of art in this moment in Brazil, so I invited an art curator to help me choose the works. Some of them I knew already and wanted to work with, but we also did a big research to find new ones. And we also got an art director which is Batman Zavarezzi who is responsible to do the interface between the content, the work itself and the technology that we needed to be able to use the art on stage. So we had a lot of technicians and even people developing ne programs, new software for the concert, not only in the visual part but in the audio part as well there is a lot of technology. Its very nice to experience this interface of art and technology in this concert. We have a lot of new resources showing up every day and its nice to update and to learn, and show things that people have never experienced before. I am really happy to be able to travel with this project and take it to Miami and show it to everybody, Brazilians and Americans who follow my work."
Production note:
Trying to figure out the best way to link to other pages. I don't really care for the green Tumblr default, and there are times when the page title is the same as the URL, which offends my aesthetic sense. #firstworldproblem
In the high-energy world of Brazilian popular music, Marisa Monte has always stood apart -- a pensive pop star more interested in making beauty than shaking booty.
In a recent phone interview from Rio, Monte said moving at a frenetic pace is not just prevalent in the recording industry. "I think it's a contemporary challenge for every human being, because we live in such a noisy world with too much information. Sometimes we don't have silence enough to listen to our inner voice, the need of our souls to follow our own speed.
"Some people," she continued, "are trying to take care of their time in a different way or to be more aware of how to spend life; how to deal with time and how to look for some silence -- to read, to search for information instead of being bombed with information."
