Sounds of the Northern Lights

Playing around with a banjo and pedalled percussion in the studio, danish songstress Tina Dico decided to release “Spark” as a single and a video, even though it was never intended to be part of a forthcoming release. The song itself is driven by the dry and aggressive banjo, and almost sound like a bootleg to begin with before the song cleverly transit into a fully produced song that showcases Tina’s insisting vocals. We are very happy she decided to share it with us.

Eva & The Heartmaker - Take a Ride (2015)

This video was an interactive project where Bertine invited her fans to take part. However, as the final version was only released on her website, the interactive sections are only black in this youtube version. This year, Bertine re-invented herself by releasing an album entirely in norwegian, and unfortunately the video was removed when her website changed layout.

Ravi is known for his innocente and humorous music. He was originally a member of Jaga Jazzist, but his breakthrough came when he featured as vocalist on Folk&Røvere’s “utavdæsjælopplevelse” (which was the very first pseudo-phoentically subtitled video). Ravi has not released music in a while, but for this comeback track he’s teamed up with Stella Mwangi, who represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest a few years back.

When Gabrielle released her debut single a couple of years ago, her music coudl best be described as super annoying pop sung in a highly annoying nasal Bergen-dialect that unfortunately also was very catchy and never left your mind and drove a lot of people to self-lobotomy. (for reference, here is the song we’re talking about) It was a shock to us all, then, that she should release not only one of the best produced music videos Norway has seen in a while, but the song is similarly good. Airy, dreamy and timeless. Whatever happened? We like it!

Aurora - Runaway (2015) Aurora Aksnes is a 18 year old girl from Bergen, Norway.  She strives to write music that can inspire people, through idiosyncratic tales of struggle, love, and all that lies in between. As of yet, Aurora has only released three songs - but critics all over the world has foreseen a brilliant career for this exceptional newcomer.

Thus far, a-ha is the only scandinavian artist/band that has produced a theme for the James Bond franchise. We have however seen some scandinavian actors among the Bond girls throighout the years
