what would you do to ensure justice? you know full well i don’t speak of lofty ideals and courts and magistrates, dearest. what would you do to those that hurt you? if i dropped them in your lap, what would you do? what kind of pain could you possibly inflict upon them? you are right to do so. you are right to want to do so. ignore the screaming, dearest, you are the hand of justice now, and they hurt you. do not look too closely at their faces, dearest. you are within your rights. you spell out your own rights, now. are you happy about it? are you certain that this is the right person you hold by the hair? does your anger hurt less now?

in longing, you feel hope. you’re on a long road, you know this. your desire is strong, big in your chest but you don’t feel weighed down. you’ve had your hardships, but you know what you truly seek is, or could be, not far from your grasp. not to say you don’t feel the burning in your heart for something more, but there’s still a spark in you, a voice that says, “don’t give up, what if?” you can be patient. you know you must be. your yearning is felt like a campfire in rain, the circumstances say the flame should be out, but yet it burns, as long as god willing or sheer effort keeps it alive. you feel the pull in your gut that makes your throat tighten with the ache of your heart but you softly smile, it’s just a reminder of your love. you aren’t afraid of your feelings in the way that would make you push them away because you’re familiar with them and you know the payoff would be well worth the grief. you’re doing great my darling, you will find your love if you have not already.

SIGHT. small towns.  big cities.  six thirty curfews.  lights that take the place of stars. blanket nests.  light through the blinds as a wake up call. found family.  finding a single star in the middle of new york city.  window shopping. watching something terrible and enjoying it.  growing numb to the sight of injustice. wilted flowers.  faded caricatures.  bright, bold colours.  

SOUND. crickets and lightening bugs.  car engines and a/c units. a phone call to mom / dad. laughing with friends. jokes that are so bad you have to laugh. the clicking of computer keys.  noise cancelling headphones. deafening gunfire.  the sound of silence.  muffled music from another room.  drumming fingertips on a table.  clicking of pens.  listening to a clock and swearing the ticks are getting slower.  ringing in the ears. the voice of someone you love.  pitch shifted songs.

TOUCH. being held close during a long night.  fleeting reassurances.  holding hands when you’re scared. brushing fingers through strands of hair.  freshly dried clothes.  bruises on your knuckles.  silk and satin. your favourite pet’s fur or feather.  wringing your hands anxiously.  snuggles. comforters in the dead of winter.  nails against skin.  cold metal.  leather in summer.

TASTE. coffee in the morning.  tea in the evening.  bubblegum that has lost its flavour. alcohol burning the back of your throat. homemade cooking.  blood in your mouth.  stale air. mint.  fresh vegetables.  the processed taste of citrus candy.  the first meal you cook by yourself that tastes good. foreign sweets.  fast food.  bittersweet.  sour.  spicy.  sweet.  bitter. too much salt on fries.

SCENT. morning glories and honeysuckles.  freshly cut grass.  hot chocolate in the middle of winter.  nail polish. hospital rooms.  smoke.  hair spray. your favorite shampoo / conditioner. the scent of home. perfume.  cologne.  mint.  something burning.  wet dogs.  copper.  metal.  leather.  un-emptied ashtrays. something familiar yet different. campfires.

my  katherine  is  canon  divergent  from  season  five  onwards  .  i  can  wriggle  these  divergences  with  my  verses  ,  but  my  main  verse  is  verse  three  in  which  katherine  never  receives  the  cure  .

  i  hated  the  storyline  with  the  cure  and  then  how  dirty  they  did  nadia  and  particularly  katherine’s  relationship  with  her  .  while  katherine  was  hardened  and  turned  into  something  dark  from  countless  centuries  spent  running  ,  finding  people  and  then  having  them  die  on  her  in  the  end  —  of  course  she’s  going  to  stop  caring  about  others  .  while  over  the  centuries  she  made  alliances  ,  fell  in  and  out  of  love  ,  for  the  most  part  she  was  never  emotionally  invested  in  others  .  why  bother  when  everyone  leaves  in  the  end  ?  and  on  top  of  that  ,  her  obsession  with  self-preservation  overcame  any  and  all  meaningful  bonds  that  she  had  .  this  is  evident  with  the  entire  scenario  of  the  salvatore  brothers  and  the  tomb  .  while  she  did  love  them  ,  she  had  to  survive  and  move  on  ,  but  selfishly  at  the  cost  of  their  lives  and  subsequent  turning  .

so  she’s  been  through  it  to  say  the  least  ,  and  the  one  person  that  katherine  searched  for  for  years  was  nadia  .  she  went  back  to  bulgaria  to  try  and  find  her  but  to  no  avail  .  i’d  like  to  think  that  the  one  person  that  was  immune  to  all  of  katherine’s  charm  ,  selfishness  ,  all  around  wickedness  would  be  nadia  .  i  don’t  think  katherine  would  want  to  put  any  of  her  darkness  anywhere  near  her  —  she’d  strive  to  show  her  the  best  of  herself  ,  the  good  parts  that  rarely  see  the  light  of  day  ,  the  katerina  petrova  hidden  deep  within  .

so  ,  how  in  the  show  they  made  katherine  prioritize  stefan  fucking  salvatore  over  her  own  daughter  who  she  loved  like  no  other  ,  was  torn  from  her  arms  straight  after  birth  —  the  one  person  that  she’d  drop  the  act  for  .  hell  no  .  katherine  loves  nadia  more  than  stefan  ,  damon  ,  elijah  or  whoever  the  hell  she  was  ever  in  a  relationship  with  or  had  some  kind  of  romantic  bond  .  because  her  daughter  is  alive  ,  she’s  here  and  she’s  safe  .  that  means  more  than  anything  else  to  katherine  and  she  would  do  anything  for  nadia  .  creating  and  maintaining  a  bond  with  nadia  would  be  katherine’s  main  goal  ,  and  i  know  that  she’d  try  her  hardest  to  be  a  mother  to  her  ,  no  matter  how  late  it  was  —  even  if  nadia  was  physically  older  ,  katherine  is  still  her  mother  and  nadia  is  her  little  baby  girl  .
