I Know Nont already dealt with Teena and Soong (in two very different manners) but I believe it’s not a coincidence that he will be dealing with Jump at the party where there is everyone. With how possessive Porsche is with Jump, like literally sees him as a possession, I don’t believe he gave his « consent » for Nont to be sexual with him. He is going to catch them and that will explain the scene of him and Prom saying Dad will not be happy (if he finds out what he’s been doing with Jump) and how upset Porsche is looking. The two boys of the brothers messing with each other in a place where the two brothers are present… it’s not looking good. And don’t get me wrong, Prom will be fuming but be more subtle about it, he was already upset with the Teena situation and it’s worse now because they became intimate with each other since then.

I hope for once that my prediction is correct, I kind of had only half correct since the beginning of the show.

Playboyy : into the world of sex workers so the last BL you would expect monogamy but all the ships seems to be exclusive or surprised that they are not exclusive. Even Porsche and Jump only have sex with each other’s.

Pit babe : Babe did say in ep 2 after going insanely jealous that he didn’t want to share Charlie with anyone except that by ep 2, they already started their sex buddies deal and if Charlie really had something with Jeff, he would have been held accountable when it was never stated that they can’t go see other people.

Once again, for a sex centric show, it’s deeply unsexy and lacking of sex.

Once again, I felt scenes were cut and we had the next one without context because who had as an idea Soong and First fighting and saying they need time apart and the very next scene it’s Soong calling for First and reminiscent of their time together. At first, I thought the « baby » pet calling was for someone else and all this time he had another one on the side.

Episode 3 and there still isn’t a proper introduction to Playboyy. It’s litterally the title of the show and would explain everything a little bit better.

They need to stop with their last minute plot twist where the end is foreseeable. Ep 1 : I knew the Playboyy were going to taste their own medecine and actually fall for their prey. Ep 2 : I knew that it was a role play and a way to get money from the father and ep 3 : I am sure that Prom has absolutely nothing to do with Nant disappearance and that either doggo is not him or the scene we saw is a role play and Nant acted scared as part of the play.

Total disappearance of Jump and Porsche

I knew that Zouey and Teena were going to fall from grace, I didn’t think it was going to be this soon but then again, Teena decided he fell in love with Zouey in one episode. They were the pairing I was the most expecting but they have been disappointing. They are by far the pairing with the least intimacy. They barely kiss or touch. I wasn’t sure if it was the actors or the characters but it seems to be the latter after I saw ep 4 preview

Captain and Keen are promising (curious of the overlapping with Soong) but i am confused, the description said Captain was going to blackmail Keen when he actually showed to everyone on the team the video. So how is he going to blackmail ?

Ep 4 preview : it was not a joke when it was revealed that Playboyy is the « +18 » version of Only friends (even if I feel the sex scenes on Only friends were better than anything we saw currently in Playboyy) and Teena and Nont kissing and probably sleeping together is the Boston-Top storyline. It’s seeing the kiss that told me that the lack of intimacy from Zouey and Teena came from the characters because Teena never kissed Zouey the way he was kissing Nont. I am excited to see the consequences of Teena-Nont. Although I hope it would not be a copy/paste of Boston-Top-Mew storyline.

I don’t feel the show is high heat from ep 1. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have the same definition of high heat than most people have. Obviously the show is sex centered as ep 1 had 13 scenes of sexual nature. For me, High heat is sulfurous and I didn’t get that from the first episode, a lot of the sex scenes were not different from the sex scenes we had in other BL who don’t have the +18 classification. We already had BJ, handjob, masturbation and body sucking being portrayed in BL and I thought they were done much better than what we saw in Playboyy. Once again, don’t get me wrong, I knew that we were not going to see private parts or the actors really doing it but I expected the actors going more at it and from what I have seen, it’s barely as if they touch each other and everything seems to be camera angle. I just take the show on how it was sold and honestly I don’t feel it’s more explicit than any other BL, it’s just the number of those type of scenes that is bigger. Personally, as of recent shows, I thought Naughty babe did a good job with their NC scenes, it was not awkward or cringe.

I didn’t see anybody mentioning it but when the characters are supposed to watch porn, it’s actually the actors that we see. When First is masturbating, he is watching a scene with someone wearing a latex headgear mask and the other one in the scene is Detch (who play Nont and Nant) making me believe the latex guy is Shell (who play Prom). Same thing happened later when First and Soong are watching a Pizza eating porn, it was actually them, Jack and Chat and it was the pizza eating on the body scene that was shared a lot on social media, with Jack having blond hair. At first when I saw the scene of the latex headgear mask, I thought First had video of Nant and Prom having sex and that it was going to be part of the plot. It kind of confirm me that the show is not going to be as high heat that we believe it’s going to be, because if the bunch of sex scenes we saw in the different trailer are actually porn scenes that the characters watch for 5 second, than it’s not going to be that high heat.

I can’t help but found similarities of the show with Only friends (I know that it’s the same writer), I feel like Only friends was the PG13 with a little bit of explicit version and Playboyy is the rated R. First remind me of Boston, Zouey and Teena of Mew and Top. First and Soong have similarities with Sand and Ray with the friends with benefits situation and First thinking he can buy everything with money like Ray. The similarities between the shows make me believe that the last scene of the Playboyy laughing because they found rich kids is going end up with « get a taste of your own medicine » so First is going to end up fooling Soong and Zouey is going to turn into Mew after he found out about the betrayal.

Playboyy is a show that was on my waiting list and I thought it could really be a breaking point for Thai BL. However few days ago, I started to think what I was expecting from this show and the first thing that came to my mind was that I wish the sex scenes were going to be sexy. It’s not about being graphic or showing nudity, although from the teasers, we knew it was going to be the case. Sex scenes in BL are still not in the right place, most of them fade to black or the camera pan elsewhere. They also become more and more explicit as of lately but explicit doesn’t mean sexy. In contrary, most of the explicit sex scenes that are mainly aired on Thai BL are goofy, there are almost always close up on the ML face and it’s the most off putting facial expressions, the movements are exaggerated, they have music on the background that does not fit and the slow motion. I always felt like some sex scenes are similar to the ones in parodic movies and I always felt uncomfortable because sex scenes between two men always got censored because “nobody want to see that” which is so untrue. And the ones that got out came across as unsexy to me, mostly the men were groaning hard and going hard at it and basically doing too much. So I expected a lot from Playboyy but it seems that it’s following the same pattern that are currently seen in BL : goofiness.

Bad exposition and Messiness

The First episode is central to a show, it’s what introduced the characters, their motivation, the main plot which will be developed throughout the series. For Playboyy, if I hadn’t seen the descriptions of the characters and the show, I wouldn’t understand almost everything that was seen in ep 1. There are characters, some are named, others are not, some are rich kids, others are an escort, a pizza man and a nude model. We understand that the rich kids are a group of friends who are university students and one of them disappeared and has a twin brother that no one was aware of his existence and want to know the truth. We have a clear understanding that the series is going to center around sex but if I didn’t know the plot I would have thought that it was going to be Only Friends pt2 and that Zouey is the main character that is going to have his sexual awakening a la Mew and First is the hyper sexual, over bearing friend a la Boston with a little bit of Not me plot. I would have never guessed that it was going to be an investigation and infiltration in the sex work of Thailand.

What I would have done if I was the screenwriter

I would have centered the first episode on Nant disappearance : who he was, the reaction of his disappearance and his brother wanting to know the truth and finding out about Playboyy agency. I would of had Nont either revealing that he was his twin or pretend that he was Nant and tell to the group friends that they needed to infiltrate the Playboyy network as undercover and they would learn of former and current Playboyy workers with Zouey and First getting to close to former Playboyy (Teena and Soong) and the others of current Playboyy. Like that, you would get a full picture of the characters motivation and the plot of the show and meetings that make sense. What we got was too messy, coincidentally the rich kids are making out with Playboyy workers, without knowing anything about it. Or at least have Jump (the escort) tell his friends of the rich kids friend group that he met at Zouey birthday party and they decide to get close to them to rip them off because again coincidentally the Playboyy bunch are fooling the same group of friends without realising that they are all connected. I just can’t wrap my head around how Soong knew that he was supposed to please First when he is an actual pizza delivery guy and explained to First that he also deliver other services with a certain message after the BJ so how did they know. Same for Teena, he is a nude model for the art class, he sees a student get turned on and actually follow him in the bathroom to help him up. Nothing was natural about the way the characters met each other. I saw someone say that the two scenarios are regular porn plot, the delivery guy that end up having sex with the client and the nude model doing the same with someone that is painting him. It still don’t explain how it could translate in real life (for them).

The thing that is upsetting is that the last shot of Boston is him by himself on the floor like a abandoned dog. He never received any apologies from anyone for everything they have done. The constant shaming, him being beat up or slap by basically all the characters, the audio tape being leaked, the threatening of showing the sex tape to his dad, accusing him of sexual assault. It was the last scene of him and it’s basically correctional punishment for being a “slut”. Yes he messed up, he slept with Top although he wasn’t with Mew at the time but still he knew they were getting together and he also wasn’t clear with Nick with the open relationship when he asked him to be his boyfriend, but other than that, he is actually the only character that stated exactly what was expected of him since the beginning but ended being the only one punished for it. It would have been better if actually we would have a last scene of him going to New York and meeting a nice new group of friends, to not have that last image of him.
