"Love is Love", Shane Hollander, Ilya Rozanov, Scott Hunter [Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, & Francois Arnaud from Heated Rivalry], digital art
Mar 2026
A redraw of a redraw of a redraw, with an edit and an overhaul, plus an added "C" for the other two captains and not just Ilya. Please don't look too closely at their feet, I really messed up the skates in this version (then tried to steal those parts from the original, and then messed them up even more so went back to the less messy mess). There was almost a plan to "paint" the inside of each locker in the colour of the applicable pride flag, but it would have been way too busy.
"The Back of Pride Night", Shane Hollander, Ilya Rozanov, Scott Hunter [Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, Francois Arnaud] from Heated Rivalry, the bonus rear cover from the [REDACTED] zine
Mar 2026
I messed up a few things with this one, mostly because it was going to have a big title text over the top of it. Shane and Scott's hands on Ilya's back look horrible (again, they weren't actually meant to be visible), and while I'm tempted to go in and change it, I'm not going to because hey, guess what? People make mistakes too. The little rainbow bit was a colour swatch from another part of the image, and I messed up the layers when I was overlaying it. If you know how hard it is to differentiate between 700+ colour layers, you'll understand my plight right now.
(Also, the first time I did this, I spelled both "Rozanov" and "Hollander" wrong and had to argue with my own brain even after I fixed it because I'd stared at it for so long they'd ceased to be words)

Hear me out...
[Just kidding, I know you're taking a break, so I'm not actually going to say what my latest 'Hear me out' is actually about (unless you really wanna know) but I had start my ask the way I always do LOL]
I just wanted join in the chorus of love and support because you deserve it. And I need to express my gratitude for the kindness and creativity that I have had the privilege to enjoy since January. I have already spoken to you privately about this, but I think it bears repeating on a more public forum. And I love seeing the support you have been getting not just in response to the AI Witch Hunt but also just since you started posting your art.
Oh my god, seriously, you're gonna make me cry!
I'm genuinely shocked and surprised by how many people have reached out, both publicly and privately, in support. As someone who has never had much support in the past (and especially with how many people who chose sides in my recent personal life issues), you have no idea how much it means to me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
(PS You will be one of the first to know when I come back from my break)

fanfic writers deserve better
if we post too fast, we get accused of using ai (no, you don't know how fast someone can write. you don't even know if the "too-frequent-to-be-human updates" you see are something that have long been finished and sitting in an author's drafts for god knows how long. just because it's recently posted, doesn't necessarily always mean it's recently written too. a lot of writers finish the whole thing first before they start posting it chapter by chapter).
if we take "too long to update", we get people pressuring us to "update faster" even though fanfics are our hobbies and we write for ourselves first and foremost.
if our works are grammatically correct, we get accused of using ai (some of us just love correct grammars).
if our works are not grammatically correct, we get insulted/criticized (mind you, not everybody writes in their native language. kudos to writers who write in their second, or third, or fourth language — I'm willing to bet a lot of people who criticize fanfics because of poor grammar can't even speak other languages besides english).
if our paragraphs are "too long and too detailed", we get accused of using ai.
if our paragraphs are "too short", we also get accused of using ai.
if we are autistic and we write in ways some deem "too robotic", we get accused of using ai.
some people just don't use their brains to think "ai was trained on human-made works, it was trained to look human-made. ai writes this way because the way it writes is the way real humans write — real humans whose works it was trained to mimic". instead they somehow disregard this logic and think "hmmm this work looks ai-generated. I will engage in witch hunt, be a bully and harass writers whose works I don't vibe with".
You're a book binder! That's so cool! Any advice for someone who is thinking about getting into it?
Yes! I have a lot of advice, first is to join the Renegade book binding discord server and ask them for help. Watch the DAS YouTube videos.
I took several days off work so I could figure it out. You don't need expensive supplies to get started, but expensive supplies get tempting after you make a few books, so watch out.
The hardest thing for me is all the terms. I am crafty so the skills are tricky but manageable but you can't research how to do something if you can't figure out what it's called....
Bookbinders are super nice and will love helping you. Don't suffer alone! Just ask!
This is basically how it feels to look at a book you've made by hand:
Or maybe this:
As the owner of several of @zenaidamacrouras1’s bound books (their stories AND MINE!!), I can attest on how amazing the work turns out 🤩
Art for the amazing @zenaidamacrouras1's Hollanov AU fic Untouchable Face. Thank you for being such a good friend and supporter, Z.
He stands at the water’s edge and scans the beach, which has a few people lying on the chairs provided by the hotel, a family under an umbrella with some kids digging in the sand, and, unmistakably, Ilya Rozanov wearing a black swimsuit and a gold Rolex, walking toward him.
So, Shane successfully negotiated Ilya out of any props for this photoshoot, and he stands by that, but now wardrobe has taken things to the other extreme: Ilya is currently sauntering from the makeup tent to a section of beach framed by aesthetic rocks on one side and a wall of light reflector umbrellas on the other, and he’s wearing only a watch.
Okay, he also has on very small, black, silky briefs.

Photoshop elements (where photoshop is used as the verb), overlays, overlines, textures... I had a lot of fun with these!
Y'all. I am the luckiest possum in this compost bin, I'll tell you that much.
If you’re the possum, I’m the racoon 😂 but we’re definitely in the compost bin 👌
Hello dear I just want to say you are lovely and your work and presence in fandom has brought me (and a million others) so much joy. Sorry you have felt the need to explain your process for making art, but it is actually really cool to see and learn about your process, so also, thanks for sharing about your process for how you make your art!
You are way too kind to me 😭

just wanted to say your art is gorgeous, and I'm sorry you're dealing with all that stupid shit!
Thank you very much 💜 I actually have some work being posted later today that I made as a gift for a friend for their fic, and it is people like that who make this fandom worth it
Heyo! I just saw your post about getting AI witch-hunted and I wanted to say I'm so so so sorry. Your art is beautiful and oozes passion, it is so painfully apparent that you hold a deep veneration and love for creation. It is not correct or fair that your art is being accused of AI use, and it is especially egregious that people have stolen it to put through AI detectors. I'm so deeply sorry and no one should blame you for any break or exodus you take from any platform.
It has become a struggle to get excited about posting any of my artwork, knowing that someone is going to try to force me to prove its validity. That’s why I’m taking a break.
I do this because it’s fun, because I enjoy it, because seeing other people react in positive ways and sharing in my enjoyment and enthusiasm is part of what makes it fun. And when I find myself bracing against what comments I’m going to get, and I’m hesitant to post because I don’t have the bandwidth to argue for myself, it’s taking the fun out of it.
Thank you very much for your kind words 💜 you’ve helped brighten my day.
Hello!! I don't normally reach out but I am bursting at the seams with so much to say to you that I will probably break my thoughts into separate posts so my questions and comments are separate🙈
First, I have to say I absolutely adore your art. I found it not to long ago and just went deeper and deeper until I saw literally all of your posts and I have not found a single one that I disliked. Your newer works especially are just breathtaking so thank you so so much for sharing your gift with us!! You make my feed a better place.
Going off of this, I cannot even fathom how people are acusing you of using AI to make this art. If anything, AI wishes it could do what you do and is trying to copy you. The difference is YOUR art has a soul. It really does. You can feel the vibrancy and color, LIFE, and hard work you put into it through the screen and AI art really just can't compare. I really hope you know that because what you do is special. I have caught myself staring at your art for inordinate amounts of time just trying to take it in because it really makes me FEEL like I am in the scene or SOMETHING. I just love it so so much. 🥰💖
Thank you so so much for your kind words! I’ve been sitting on this post for a while, especially after the newest round of AI accusations, because I’ve honestly not known how to reply 😭
Thank you thank you thank you, so so much. You’ve made me feel better about everything going on 💜
hello! I’ve seen your art of Cliff Marleau for “not a puck bunny” and it’s amazing. It’s exactly how I pictured cliff in my mind🥰 I got really into the Hayleau ship(haycliff?) there are a lot of us in that club on ao3, and I was wondering if you have any similar art of them together?🫣
Hey there,
The “not a puck bunny” art was done by special request, and it’s not actually a ship I follow personally (I’m v canon compliant in the HR world), but it’s def something I might consider doing in the future when I come back from my break

"Pride Night", Shane Hollander, Ilya Rozanov, Scott Hunter [Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, Francois Arnaud] from Heated Rivalry, the original cover from the [REDACTED] zine
Mar 2026
This is a several layer work. First, I found three blank jersey templates and redesigned the Metros/Raiders/Admirals jerseys into a pride format. I then found a reference pic of three men standing next to each other wearing jerseys. I used inkscape to photoshop the jerseys onto the reference pic, and then photoshopped Hudson, Connor, and Francois's faces into place.
I then ran it through my process of playing with vectorising/lighting/overlaying watercolour textures and stock images, isolating the lines, drawing in more lines (don't look too closely at their numbers or their feet because I almost messed them up a few times). I blurred the letters because it's meant to look like a painting, I removed the lines from the Raiders icon because it was too busy, and then overlaid everything.
Believe it or not, the reflection on the ice was the hardest part of this. And if you still fucking think this is AI, just go ahead and block me already because I'm over trying to prove myself to everyone.
Please do not repost my work to other sites without permission
This was put together in about six minutes, and is the closest I'm probably going to every get to doing a time lapse.
I start with a photograph. I change the settings to soften the edges. I use line isolation tools to detect the edges to get the overlines. I isolate blocks of colour and use watercolour textures and overlays. I pull the original image back out and vectorise it at a brighter colour.
And then I start to assemble all the pieces on top of each other all over again.
Seriously. Google "How to cartoonise my photograph" and follow the instructions from the 2014/16 model. It can be done in inkscape, adobe illustrator, adobe photoshop (which is really good if you want to colourise black and white images, add clothing, cut and paste faces on reference bodies, etc), flexisign, easysign, and a myriad of other design softwares.
The more layers something has, the more complicated it is. Colour isolation also allows me to flatten and brighten colours, and make them look more artistic.
When I get really serious about it, I will go in and trace the outline with a drawing pad or sometimes even my mouse (or laptop mousepad).
I bump the lines into where I want them, or distort it slightly.
And that gives me something like this.
I really didn't have time to spend on putting together something intricate today, I'm in the middle of trying to buy a business, work my current job and second job, run a laser cutter and a workshop, and deal with an ex implying things about me and our relationship that I didn't want made public so our mutual friends didn't feel like they had to take sides.
But. Whatever.
Believe me or don't, but I fucking HATE AI.
Jill: Once again, sorry that you feel that you have to do this to stop the witch hunt. All those people suck balls. As much as I have enjoyed learning about your process I whole heartedly wish it wasn’t like this.
To all the haters: do you see what you’ve done? Do you understand? You shouldn’t need to see this to believe someone? Do you realise by feeding Jill’s art into an AI detector you’ve made it easier for AI to replicate it? - you gave it more fodder. And the excuse of “well I couldn’t be sure” or “I didn’t know”- Jill has explained her process before (without images) and you could just look it up.
Fuck, man.
Thank you, my friend. You’ve had my back from day one. This is why I’m taking a break. It’s too much for me right now. This is meant to be my happy place, not somewhere else I have to defend myself against baseless accusations.
