There's this feeling about staying alone in big city, in an apartment or flat overlooking the city lights at night... poetic and nolstagic I guess.

The iconic plane wreck at Sólheimasandur Beach. Out in the open, no cover whatsoever, a surreal scene.
When I showed my friends/relatives the pictures I took from Iceland, many were envious, but some actually said “what is there to see? It’s so barren”.
I guess, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or perhaps just different preferences). I really find Iceland beautiful. The landscape and nature is undisturbed and not packed with civilisation. So what you see is probably what it has been since many many years ago. It gives me a sense of awe.
However, it is also maybe because from where I come from, we don’t get to see sceneries like these… We met an Icelandic who had been to Southeast Asian countries and he said “I have never seen so many trees in my life” 😂 so Iceland was unique and special to me. I have never been able to spend so long outdoors without worrying about mosquitoes and insects 😂
All in all, if you have a chance, and are into sceneries. I recommend Iceland. Though I gotta say Iceland as a destination is not cheap so some research is needed on how to save and travel within your budget.
DC Plane wreck at Sólheimasandur Beach.
Mixed reviews for this one.
Some said to track for 4km in open space with nowhere to hide from the sun and strong wind, this was nothing much. It is just a plane wreck in the middle of nowhere.
Some said this is a must-see. Where else could you see a real plane wreck in the middle of nowhere?
Different perspectives.
Like the reviews, I was somewhere in the middle… I wasn’t sure if I would want to walk for 4km to just a plane wreck.
However, it is an iconic attraction in Iceland. So we went ahead.
Tracking 4km in open space might sound daunting at first but it was actually not that bad. And though you couldn’t see the plane from the car park and you couldn’t see the car park from the plane, you have your GPS and other tourists along the way to rely on.
When we reached, there it is! An empty shell, a wreckage. Many years ago in 1973, this was a functional DC plane. However, it crashed landed in Iceland and became an attraction in Iceland. Looking at its wreckage, slowly falling apart… I’m glad I went for it. Many years later, it will probably be gone, completely fallen apart. So at least I could tell others, “yeah I’ve been there, here let me show you…” teehee

Iceland. Perhaps the most beautiful road trip I have ever taken.
