If I could be frank, I don't like the way they portrayed Crystal in her latest episode. It's not awful, but to me there's something off about the impression she gave at the latter half of 'No Homework' that just... gets to me. She's been shown to be smart as a whip when it comes to her effect on others (partly, to be fair, because people are gullible...) but her own ability is evident; it's even something Ava, herself has gone on to point out!
If they wanted to go down the route of Ava not expecting her to be "all that" or whatever, so that it would help her realize that the (heated 🤭😝) rivalry they had wasn't worth it, they could've easily thrown in that it worked for her kids because the environment of the school, under her leadership, was different. Or that they had other tools in place or that it only helped certain kids...
Because realistically, a 'no homework' policy would be so much more complex and have more varied results, even amongst the population of one singular school... and yet, we only see one general outcome be highlighted.
It honestly felt off because I NEVER got the impression that Crystal was stupid or that she would ever be foolish enough to be completely fine/ complacent with hurting her kids in that way- all with a smile on her face like it was the greatest thing ever! She's too well-versed in understanding people and one of the only vulnerabilities we see her have is WANTING for her kids and feeling like she wasn't doing enough for them to get the best education. So to turn around and have her end up doing something so genuinely stupid just... wasn't it for me.
