A soul that was supposed to die

Aiges smelled it, the scent of the demon oncemore… he looked to them, last time they had narrowly escaped his grasp… here they stood just… staring. truthfully he felt quite akward at this moment for a second.

“Oh, Hello demon… Uhmm… What art thou doing?”Aiges began to dig through his bag, looking for the talisman again… he wanted to send them back to their realm but, it would probably be wise to stow a weapon before they did anything.

“A noble,yes…but he was also much more than that.”

“He was a powerful mage,the man who commanded the Reapers,one of the organizations with a purpose to capture and kill corrupted souls.Basically a hero in our world…”

She paused for a moment.hesitating to continue with her story.

“However he…he had  ulterior motives.Each soul belonging to the creature the Reapers killed,was brought to him and consumed,making the cluster inside him grow bigger and more powerful.”

“..And the more souls he consumed,the worse he got…he became a monster himself,He didn’t look like one,but he acted like one.”

“His family…couldn’t even recognize him…there was no trace of humanity left in him,no love,no compassion…just the desire to gain more power.”

“…The only reason why I was able to defeat him was the fact that I caught him off-guard.”

Aiges headed their words… He clearly tried to become someting of a god through these beast’s. presuming that she was indeed telling the truth… He looked to them.

“… Thou did the right thing… You deserve to go home… Wast thou just initally shunned? Or is there a trial thou can go through?”

If they could do a trail by combat… Aiges was thinking about being their champion… he would like to visit this realm… it would seem there is more he could do more good there, than in this one.

“Oh please,if they knew they would stop him before the cluster grew as powerful as it was.Corrupted souls are not welcome in our world,and I’m sure they would make no exception for him”

“I mean the Reapers did know,and they didn’t dare to do anything.Spread the word,kill him,or defy him in any way.”

“…For all those other people know I killed their ‘hero’,and became a demon as a punishment,so I’m not allowed to go back anymore.”

Aiges however kept looking at the soul, intruiged by it. a black flame in the center, it was unlike the corruption he had experienced, sinners marked by the lord to be killed on the spot… it was almost as if a demon rested within their soul.

“...No,I don’t consume souls.The part of a cluster stuck to me is only a small fragment,it doesn’t have enough control over me to make me crave more power.”

“And about the coming back part...let’s say I have some...issues with my world’s residents.Considering the fact that the cluster I destroyed was actually inside of one of the important figures in my world.”

“I didn’t do it for power though,I didn’t know what’s going to happen when I break it...I just wanted it gone.”

A purplish blue soul appeared in front of her,glowing softly,there semed to be something inside it,a black flame-like pattern which moved along it,seeming trapped.

“This... is a part of a soul cluster I destroyed,a rather big and corrupted one at that..”

“It stuck to my own soul once I destroyed its original form,and it and gave me those...powers I have now.The ability to travel between worlds...and other stuff..”

Aiges took out the talisman from the bag. It was a small cross, lined with gold, mostly composed of silver. With a few small gemstones decorating it.

“I was injured and you didn’t exactly seem trustworthy,what did you expect smartass?”

She didn’t seem bothered by the talisman,staring at it blankly.Giving him a little sigh she shook her head.
