So at first I was on the “Ughh Homecoming is unplayable and Bad, Actually” train for a while until I read the story. Then I was really onboard with it, gritted my teeth and went into the game, determined to have a good attitude about it.

Here’s all the things I like about Homecoming:

Alex Shepherd is a complete sweetheart and also deserves the world.

The combat leaning fast and melee isn’t a bug, it’s a feature, and it’s pretty intuitive and even feels good after a while.

I really like the journey into Alex’s family life. It’s one thing to give us a zillion flashbacks, but it’s another to show us interacting with Alex’s parents and Josh and let us infer the relationships from that.

The sacrifice rituals are really interesting to me, especially seeing how each family deals with the grief of having to make a sacrifice.

Judge Holloway is an amazing villain.
